Putting pill fillers up your nose sounds like a bad idea
I've always seen people crush up and rail stuff (oxy, ritalin, adderal, etc...), but I now wonder about the harm of putting all the fillers up your nose. Especially in the case of extended release pills. Aren't those designed not to digest even in the presence of stoumach acid for many hours? How long would that stuff stay up your nose? Also, I read things periodically about chemicals being put into pills to prevent insufflation, such that either the chemical is nuetralized. Or, one I heard recently was that capsaicin (the stuff in peppers that makes them spicy) in to pills.
So my questions: Is there any harm in snorting pills? Are some pills rigged to prevent abuse? If so, which ones?

Re: Putting pill fillers up your nose sounds like a bad idea
Yes, snorting binders is bad for your nose, but a lot of people do it anyways. The best thing to do from what I've heard is to rinse your nose out with water about 15 minutes after you snort it to get rid of any leftover binders that are clogging up your nose.
AFAIK there are very few drugs rigged to prevent snorting. I'm pretty sure that the Teva generic Oxy's will gel up if you snort them which will just leave a big gooey mess up there. Also, I think there is a new ADD med(Some sort of amp I think) being researched that isn't effective at all when snorted and is probably going to hit the market soon

Really, putting anything up your nose is a bad idea. I'm pretty sure the drug itself will be worse then the binders in most cases.

Except it didn't. All that paragraph said was that these are things I've heard. What I'm hoping for is that people can confirm or deny my worries about snorting pills. It appears that most Oxy is rigged to prevent intranasal use. Is there any way around this? What about dissolving in water, removing gel, then evaping?

The gelling OC's are only the Teva brand generics. I know there IS a way around it, but it's pretty complicated and I forget where I saw it.
Anyways, you should just check the imprints on the pill to see what brand it is. If it is a Purdue brand OC then you are fine because they don't gel up.
You won't really be needing to worry about Teva's in the near future because Purdue has been granted the sole rights to continue producing OxyContin, and their OC's don't gel up.
And yeah, I think vynase would work... Either that or just fill any nasal spray bottle up with water or even just go into the shower and sorta get it up in your nose...

I've been snorting those p[ills for years with no problem. Granted some of them gel up pretty bad, but that doesn't keep the drug from being ingested. It just clogs your nose for a bit.

vyvanse is inactive nasally. it has to be ingested or nothing will happen.

Yea thats true, I made the mistake of mixing Adderall xr(30) with some of that shit, didnt give me anything. Pissed me off but I was able to sell it to some 1337 kid for 20 bucks claiming it was coke....He was just trying to look cool in front of his friends.

Re: Putting pill fillers up your nose sounds like a bad idea
It's a necessary evil, binders are bad but insuffilation is just so damned good.
Watch out for pills with small doses of the active ingredient, though, like xanax. 2mg in a big ol' bar means a lot of binder.

Very true, and not that I'd ever snort a Xanax bar or anything, but there are some exceptions. Hydromorphone pills, for example, usually have a fairly large filler/hydromorphone ratio, but solubility and higher bioavailability make it all worth it in the end.

I'd never eat a Dilaudid. ;)
Edit: Congrats on your 1000 post.

Re: Putting pill fillers up your nose sounds like a bad idea
Yeah binders are sort of a necessary evil for a lot of drugs. You should really only snort things that are actually advantageous to snort, such as things with low oral bioavailability (ex. hydromorphone) or things that just provide a better rush when snorted. There are drugs that are just stupid to snort such as Adderall and benzos which are just as effective orally as nasally, and if you just want a quicker onset then parachute them. No need to clog your nose with binders and other shit.

Yes, it is Vyvanse, and you have to reflux it I believe, I don't QUITE remember... but if you search the forum for it, or lab tips, I am pretty sure there is a thread about doing it.

Oh shit, I was thinking of some nasal spray that sounds somewhat like Vyvanse... Yeah landspeed is right about Vyvanse being the ADHD med that has an anti-abuse mechanism to prevent snorting.
Traditional ADHD medications have been easy to abuse and this has led to dependency problems. Vyvanse is a prodrug, a substance that is inert until it is digested. This mimics how the body creates useful chemical and vitamins from our food. As Vyvanse only acts as a stimulant once it is broken down by the stomach you cannot get a high from grinding it up and snorting it. Swallowing higher than prescribed doses (150mg compared to the recommend max of 70mg) will still produce a high indistinguishable from that produced by a comparable dose of Ritalin.
Ugh, apparently this is going to replace Adderall as Adderall's patent is going to run out at year's end and the company is urging doctor's to push Vyvanse on patients. It might not become as popular as Adderall because it apparently also has a lot more side effects than Adderall, which would definitely be a turn-off for many parents... We'll see what happens within the next year or so...

Re: Putting pill fillers up your nose sounds like a bad idea
Exactly. It needs stomach acid to become active. What is stomach acid everyone? That's right, HCl. Refluxing in HCl oughta do it. Of course, neutralize it etc.

Re: Putting pill fillers up your nose sounds like a bad idea
I dont understand the point in snorting pills. Wouldn't it be better to parachute, or chew up a pill and hold it on your tongue or something? Cos then you dont have to worry about having a blocked nose, you can just swallow everything down, and its all good? I understand that people snort pills so they come up quicker, but I'd have thought that more of the chemical would be ingested if swallowed, instead of by snorting. Dunno, Im quite smashed. Just stoned thoughts lol.

The nose has a system to remove foreign material. Thats why you have mucous in that siuation, to carry out all of the dirt and particles you get caught up there while breathing. How well it cleans it out, I dont know. Snorting up large amounts of filler probably does quite a bit of damage to the nose but I dont think itstays up he for to long. You either blow your nose or swallow mocous from your nose.

Re: Putting pill fillers up your nose sounds like a bad idea
I imagine putting fillers up your nose is a bad idea. But if you are going to rail pills then I suggest blowing your nose, getting whatever nostril you are going to use (or both) almost bone dry and then rail the pills.
The mucous keeps all the particles and things stuck in your nose and if there is none then the particles just suck in freely. If you are still congested after that use some Zicam Sever Decongestant gel (the kind with Aloe in it). It works great.
