Re: I am going to do the "Telling your parent you smoke weed" ordeal.
why dont you say a friends mothers suffers from the same thing and uses marijuana, then read up on medical marijuana and print some good info out and give it to her.
i mean its your call, but if your living in her house i really wouldnt risk it, when it comes to things like drugs, most parents dont care what the facts are, they already have ideas set in stone in their minds that all drugs are bad.

Those are good points, I'll try to use them, but she has already looked into alternative medicines and treatments, and knows that MJ is an option, so I am planning to use that to my advantage.
I think she reacted like she did when I was 14 because it was a traumatic time for her. I know for a fact when she was a teen like most others she smoked, but then again that doesn't really mean anything.
If she reacts negatively, at least I'll will have opened up with her. She brought me into the world I owe her that much.

But you have to put that situation into context. My father had just died, and she thought I was being depressive, and thinking that I was doing things that I shouldn't have been she made me go to the damn mental institute to get evaluated on my behavior or something, and they decided to keep me there a week because I was showing "depressive and bipolar symptoms".
They drug tested me, found nothing because back then I had never even thought of it, they put me on Zoloft (worse thing ever) and life continued.
Now that the years have gone by she has become much less strict and more understanding since the crazy house incident. Even since then she has never told me that she would kick me out for smoking or said not to smoke or anything like that. She has threatened to kick me out for other things like drinking or tobacco though (problems she used to and still deals with), so its not like the no smoking MJ thing is an unwritten rule or something.
But your right the situation does look bad in a certain perspective

Re: I am going to do the "Telling your parent you smoke weed" ordeal.
This is very clean cut and simple: my 47 year old mother has a few disorders that she deals with (Fibromyalgia and all that). It depresses her that she is in constant pain and medicines doctors prescribe basically do nothing but give her more side effects and bills to pay.
I think that smoking marijuana would benefit her, and so I am planning to let her know that I smoke, and that I wold recommend she start smoking just to relieve some of the problems she suffers from.
I feel apprehensive though since she sent me to a mental/rehab institute once thinking I was smoking and dealing weed at the age of 14. While there they drug tested me and I was clean, but I had to stay there a week for "depression".
(this was about 3 months after my father died, so she was understandably worried). Two years later I started smoking weed, and now after another two years, at 18, I am planning to let her know I smoke, and also let her know that I can supply her with it.
She might be adamant at first but I trust she wouldn't over react, seeing how we share the same views about corrupt laws and the complete propaganda of the "dangers" of weed, but only on an objective scale.
Wish me luck.
What evidence do you have that weed will alleviate her disease? Fucking idiot.
If I were you I would just smoke and keep my mouth shut.

Download/buy/rent "In Pot We Trust" "Grass" (I think thats what it was called), and the history channels "Illegal Drugs and How They Got That Way", specifically the one on marijuana, but all of them are really good and interesting, and take a very objective and unbiased view.

Re: I am going to do the "Telling your parent you smoke weed" ordeal.
It's hard to say because were not you but seeing as your father just died and you where FOURTEEN YEARS OLD I don't think she overreacted at all by putting you in rehab/therapy. You'll just have to gage her... if you're 18 now and have all your shit in order, doing good in school, have a future etc then it shouldn't be a problem what you tell her about your drug use. But you don't want to end up being kicked out of the house if it turns out she is psycho about drugs.

leave some weed out, in pants pocket or something, not much, enough for her to notice, see how she reacts, if she gets super pissed pull some, "oh fuck!, i was at this party the other night, smoked weed and was like this is awesome, then i bought some off the guy, that drug must have warped my mind, i thought it was so awesome but i forgot to take it out of my pocket, guess its not that awesome, now huh mom?", if she is not pissed, be like, "hey, wanna smoke?"

if i were you i wouldnt take the "uh gee mom smoke t3h pot it makes you feels funny!"
she'll think youve become retarded and its just not a way to get someone to medicinally involve themselves with it.
get a few papers about its medical use, what i can relieve/alleviate and like others said, alot of info about it. this is so you dont come off as the lonely burnout
come at her informed and ready to teach and she might come round to your side.

As long as you're over 18 they can't force you in rehab don't worry.

No but they can kick him out and cut off funding for college. Being homeless and on the streets sounds a lot worse than rehab. Unless you're self sufficient and don't give a shit, then go for it.

Hey, dumb ass,
"It was not a surprise to me to read of successful trials in Germany for fibromyalgia with THC, the medicinal chemical in cannabis/marijuana. I have about 100 fibromyalgia patients using marijuana/cannabis very effectively. It is known that cannabis has good analgesic, antispasmodic and euphoriant actions."

Do you enjoy getting proven wrong or is it just that your used to getting embarrassingly blatantly refuted?
if i were you i wouldnt take the "uh gee mom smoke t3h pot it makes you feels funny!"
Of course I'm not going to say that its the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Well there is no "funding for college" problem, she isn't going to kick me out of anywhere because she is already getting a house (that I am helping to pay for) for her and my sister out of state back where she is from, I'm pretty self sufficient, so I'm not worried.

Seems like a pretty good situation to tell her, the best one I've heard. Worst case scenario is that she doesn't talk to to you for a while, best case scenario is that you help her problem and have more freedom.

Re: I am going to do the "Telling your parent you smoke weed" ordeal.
If your mom sent you to that place cause she thought you smoked then still kept you there when you were clean, then its obvious that she's gonna overreact if you tell her you smoke pot. That was dumb to send you anywhere because of suspicion that you smoked pot. So this time when you actually are shes gonna flip shit. She sounds like one of those close minded parents who only believe the propaganda they heard in the 70s. And shes not gonna start smoking it herself cause she wouldn't even consider that. Just keep it secret.

Re: I am going to do the "Telling your parent you smoke weed" ordeal.
There is something much better for almost all medicinal uses of weed. There is a reason it isn't widely prescribed.
In short, your intentions are noble, but marijuana probably isn't the best thing for your mother.

lulz.
Also, you can do this without letting her know that you smoke. Just present her with the info or make her watch a pro medical marijuana documentary or something. If she seems a bit interested, just support her and offer to help her get started.
Once you know she isn't totally against it itll be a bit safer to come out that you smoke.
