Does your hypothetical shipment have a scent?
If so, vacuum sealing works wonders. Also, packing with other scented products to help negate any possibility of the scent escaping is a good measure to take.

If the package is full of scentless goodies, it should prove to be alot easier. Sending meds mixed in with sweet-tarts and the like has worked for us, allowing us to ship to our address, packed in with other non-illegal things of course. Anything in patch form or something with an aluminum or aluminum-like packaging should be done away with, replaced with something like a vacuum seal or double zip-lock. This (of course) may lead to minor evaporation of said product, but it's alot better than having your items picked up on any type of x-ray that may or may not be used by the shipping company in question.

Using these methods we have (probably never) received things at our personal address with no hassles. This, however, is not recommended and it's always best to not involve yourself in any type of illegal shipping...and if you do, a P.O. or abandoned home may not be such a bad idea.
