valentine's day blues
sup temple,
to avoid most of the TL/DR, i'll keep it short and sweet.
there's this really cute peruvian (think spanish) girl in one of my classes. we've been doing group work together, and she seemed like a real good girl. she works out regularly, is soft spoken and has good brains.
so yesterday (the 13th) i asked her what she was doing for valentine's day. she said she had nothing planned so i asked if she wanted to do something. she was all smiles and blushes and said sure, so i got her number and was told the best time to call her would be at 7.
so today, 7pm rolls around, and i call; no answer. i wait ~15 mins and call again. this time, some french dude picks up and tells me i have the wrong number.
so what i don't get is why would she give me the wrong number if she seemed so happy when i asked her out on a date. it's not like she's a random customer where i work, where i would never see her again. she's in my class every week. i'm kinda shocked and a little bit hurt.
i won't lie, i'm not the most experienced with girls, and i know they can be somewhat nonsensical at times, but why would you say yes to someone you don't wanna go out with when you have to see them weekly?
forgive me if my typing does not appeal to the grammar nazi gods, i may have gone and drank my sorrows away (to an extent.)

Re: valentine's day blues
Maybe she honestly got the number wrong?
Just ask her.

Who forgets their own number? Perhaps you recorded it incorrectly, OP.

I don't even know my mobile number.
Next time you see her just tell her that you wrote down the wrong number, then ask her if she wants to do anything on the weekend and get her number down properly.

Clearly wrote down? That 1 could be a 7.

Re: valentine's day blues
/me breaks in to Tom Waits song...
She sends me my blue valentines
To remind me of my cardinal sin
I can never wash the guilt
Or get these bloodstains off my handa
And it takes a lot of whiskey
To take this nightmares go away
And I cut my bleedin heart out every nite
And I die a little more on each St. Valentines day
Remember that I promised I would
Write you...
These blue valentines
blue valentines

Re: valentine's day blues
This is how it works...
You say "Hey. I tried calling you the other day and I got talking to a French dude. What's the deal?"
This way you're confronting the situation head on and trying to make sense of the outcome.
She can explain what happened, maybe she wrote the number down wrong or her phone got stolen by a French dude.

Re: valentine's day blues
Don't try and play it off like it was an innocent mistake and ask her for her number again. She gave you the wrong number for a reason.
Just play it off, like you never had time to call her in the first place. Keep your distance for a while, and then in a week or two you can go up to her and be like 'Hey, I've been meaning to give you a call, but i've just been so busy. What are you doing this weekend?'. Thats the best chance you have. By laying off for a while, it'll make her think you aren't interested, and her pride will interfere with her judgement. Then when you ask her in person, you circumvent the problem completely, and she has to give you an honest awnser.
