You require mass quantities of alcohol.

Anyways.

I don't know how to articulate it in a really thorough manner, but I shall attempt. I thought this girl and I shared a certain affinity in the beginning of the school year, but now it has withered away to nothing. However, she has sparks of interest in me, but they leave as sporadically as they come. We've never gone out but I feel that she has been waiting for me to persue her, and she has become offended that I have not.

Also, I see her for a very miniscule amount of time per day... I desire her, yet I barely know her.

Man up and tough the pain out until you can accept the reality that shit comes, shit goes? You don't have to forget a damned thing in this world...every rough spot in your life can later be used to help another person out who's going through the same. Blotting out your own memory of something because it hurts (oh, poor you, I'll start crying you a fucking river right now) is about the most selfish, asshole, narcissistic, BITCH thing you can do.

Shut the fuck up.

Why aren't you using your experiences in this to help him? It's entirely his choice to forget someone, and you have no right to talk shit to him if he wants to.

OP: Alcohol, stat.

What I suggested WILL help him. When pain comes, you fucking tough it out. Talk about it with friends if you must, but drowning it with booze like a wino is about the dumbest fucking thing you can do. Besides, as soon as you sober up, THE MEMORY COMES BACK.

Alcohol is a short term thing, it will help him move on. Once he has, then it will be easier for all concerned. Of course it will come back, you can never obliterate a memory completely, you just need to put it behind you and keep going.

How does delaying the pain of reality make it any easier to cope with? Wouldn't it just be easier to mourn for a couple days, accept what has happened, and move on without potentially making a complete ass out of one's self by imbibing an anti-inhibiting substance while in the grips of intense emotions? If he does choose intoxication as a method of coping, and ends up making an ass out of himself, doesn't he just then have the possibilities of shame, embarrassment, and more to then also accept?

I just don't get why you think placing one's self at the mercy of intoxication is beneficial to 'moving on'...
