Default A couple Prescription Questionz...

Howdy,
I'm a 19/yo college student and prescribed 2 mg of Klonopin per day for social anxiety reasons.(Doesn't seem to do anything, but i keep getting them anyways) I also have a lot of trouble focusing, so i talked to the doc in hopes of getting adderall, but he prescribed me ritalin instead. Upon taking it i have consistently noted a period of about one hour of slight added focus, coupled with a surprising increase in social prowess. Unfortunately this is usually followed by the quick onset of what i can only describe as an extreme feeling of discomfort/uneasiness. I have a follow up next week, so basically i have 3 questions:
1. Would telling my doc about this "rebound" raise a red flag or signify an ADD misdiagnosis?
2. What reported results would best cause him to switch my medz?
3. Could i expect a similar social boost from Adderall?

Thanks

From personal experience amphetamines do help socially. However, it might depend on your body's chemistry. Since Ritalin works somewhat similar to adderal, I would probably leave out the discomfort part. Basically say you feel it working, but its not helping you out (hell this wouldn't even be a lie). Avoid directly asking for a larger dose or adderal. Preferably wait for your next checkup, else it might look suspicous. After a while you could also try to get dexedrine.

actually you are wrong. things like adderal and ritalin and dexedrine make you less social. OP don't listen to what this guy is telling you. If you want something that will make you more social you need an SSRI (selective seretonin re-uptake inhibitor) because your social anxiety is caused by a lack or serotonin.

Different body chemistries. The current theory on why amphetamines don't make ADHD kids more hyper is that amphetamines have the reverse effects on people with ADHD. Worth a try anyway. If ritalin works somewhat, then adderal should definately work.

There can be hundreds if not thousands of causes for lack of being social, you can't just say its because of lacking seretonin.

Of course, the best way to combat the problem is naturally through positive reinforcement, but I know this can be hard for many people, and I believe the use of amphetamines is justified for it. Even if you do get an adderal prescription, and it doesn't work, you could sell it, make lots of money and friends at the same time.

actually you are wrong. people who have other reasons for not being social still have less serotonin. if you get more seretonin you wont care about the reasons that make you anti-social and you will be social. your level serotonin means whether or not you are social.

Amphetamines increase seretonin levels. So even if you're right, I'm right. If say being constantly rejected by girls causes you to be less social, and that causes lowered serotonin levels I'm not sure, but either way, in practice, what I suggest should work, likely a lot better then SSRIs.

Actually you didn't answer my question, you attempted to answer the OPs question and in the process, said that I was wrong without backing it up with substantial evidence, and after that I proved myself right, to the point where you couldn't argue further. I got the impression that the only reason you even tried to argue me, was to gain a boost of self-confidence by irritating someone on the internet, which I must say you managed pretty well. To back up that claim, you resort to calling me a nerd (metaphorically) with "back to your world of warcraft, virgin".

I actually take klonopin and ritalin for focusing problems and social anxiety. I'm not really so much afraid of people anymore, just that I don't usually feel like talking to people because they are boring and I don't like to get into the normal culture people identify themselves to. Ritalin will make u feel good for a short time and afterwards u might get a sort of crash, but I suggest some mental effort in trying to focus on what specifically makes u uncomfortable in social situations and then try to act rationally. Soon your anxieties will be put in the back of your mind and you can start just being yourself and acting the way you want without putting effort into that.

Also, what really helps is that amino loading to get ur dopamine and serotonin levels up and they will help you focus on yourself and feel good just being in ur body. Key thing I have noticed is that if you are able to focus on the present moment and what you are feeling, you can control it and it seems to fade away leaving you clear-headed and functional in any situations including social ones.

Stick w/ the benzos. From my experiences, Adderall caused amphetamine psychosis in me. Amphetamines are VERY potent drugs.

Thanks for the responses,
Until recently i was on an SSRI also, but found it unhelpful and my doctor took me off it. And my social anxiety isn't to the level of being extremely anti social, i can function fine but have a lot of trouble being outgoing. I found with the ritalin i wasn't happy unless i was talking to someone. On a side note, does heavy marijuana use inhibit the noticeable effects of benzos?(sorry if thats a stupid question)

Splam was right from the beginning and was right about chemistry makeups. If ritalin helped in this case, adderall will help a whole lot more.I also mix downers and uppers all the time but everyone says its so dangerous. In your case adderall would work better if ritalin helped.Iwd can you please get the fuck off totse please!!!!!!!!!!

Adderall makes me really social and of course easy to talk to people.
