"Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
Alright, so most of us are already probably familiar with Freevibe, PDFA, and those other anti-drug federal backed websites, that come up with those funny little commericals telling you if you get high a alien will steal your girlfriend. Well I was cruising across some of their boards, and most of the stuff on here is just blatantly ignorant.
Its one thing to make those commercials where everyone can clearly see your phail, but when these organizations twist facts and stories to support there ideas, this is where I have a problem.
Lets take a look at the "your stories" section.
http://tinyurl.com/mgydy
Wow. It seems a awful lot of these people have had friends overdose on marijuana, parents who turned their backs on kids to go live with their "vikoden dealer". I'm sorry, I'll quote them, it really does help get the stupidity across much faster.
"Okay well all my friends do drugs...they are all drug dealers..and they all try and get me to do it but im just way to scarred to start.what do i do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? "
"TO tell u the truth i used to do drugs. my dad died and all my *fake* friends told me doing drugs would help me! I did drugs for about 2 years until i seen what it was doing to my life.. i lost alot of friends and family. when my mom found out and was crying in her room thats when i knew i had to stop! i am now above the influence && have not did a drug in 1 year i am very proud of myself!!! and i am here to tell u that any1 can quit if they need to"
Jesus Christ, huh? Any average poster on totse would call troll immediatly. Buts thats the thing. Most of the posts are roughly like these, all have a degree of ignorance and hate, all are anti-drug, but some are just biased like a nazi at a synagogue.
But heres the thing. Its pretty fucking hard to mass troll a goverment backed, constant monitored, "admin" filled website. So how are all these stories getting through? The only resonable explanation would be that freevibe and these other places are fabricating them for the sole purpose of backing a outrageous attack on drugs.
You might want to view their "facts", and see how factual they really are as well.
http://www.freevibe.com/Drug_Facts/index.asp
Guys, their has to be something we can do about this. Heads outta the bongs gents, because if we let the U.S. be subject to this propaganda and misinformation much longer, I fear theres some bad shit ahead.
Thoughts, disscussions, whatever you got is welcome.

From that quote, you seem a bit less retarded than 99% of totse's BLTC users, who weren't able to figure out the posts were fake even after countless topics in this forum about freevibe.
All you have to do is submit an anti-drug message and they still won't let it go through even if you agree with their anti-drug crap.
However, you are still retarded for posting a topic about freevibe. Do you know how many fucking shitty freevibe topics we've had? You aren't going to take down the evil freevibe, you're just wasting more of my forum space by repeating this stupid fucking retarded type of topic.
No doubt with the next wave of noobs we'll have another stupid fucking retarded freevibe topic, it's inevitable. A vicious cycle of internet retardation.

Re: "Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
So... the proponents of "The War on Drugs" are manipulative, create their own facts and ignore any logical opposition to their "movement."
News to me.
But seriously you have to realize that there is little you can do. There are too many stupid people in the world, or more accurately, too many stupid, brain-washed people. They've been taught that marijuana can kill you and WILL ruin your life regardless of personal responsibility. It's dehumanizing, just be glad you're not a pawn to their will.

Re: "Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
While I agree with both of you, it doesnt seem like something we can just lay down for. Especially when it is getting this blatant.
I don't mean to be hopping on a anti-freevibe/government bandwagon here to, I remember seeing some posts about this when I joined a couple years ago but never gave it much thought...
I forget who it was, but someone said knowledge without integrity is dreadful. Thats kind of why I don't think i could just sit on the sidelines with this one...

Re: "Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
All their 'facts' come from the NIDA, which is probably the least reputable medical testing body on the planet.
Their site would look a hell of a lot different if they only cited actual, peer-reviewed scientific research.
From Wikipedia:
NIDA and Wikipedia
NIDA officials have edited the Wikipedia article about their organization to remove text and links critical of NIDA and add NIDA URLs and text from NIDA literature. The article history shows a single edit in late August 2006 and a number of edits during September 2006 by an anonymous editor with an IP address from within NIH. These edits have been reverted. In January 2007, NIDA spokeswoman Dorie Hightower verified that the editing was done by NIDA officials, and said it was done "to reflect the science."

Re: "Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
With the NIDA's federal view, it really doesnt suprise me. What does however, is that more people can't see this. Clear, backed, citing should be done for their views, instead of leaving the average pothead filled with guilt and remorse after passing their 'dangers of marijuana' page.
Edit: Just saw that quote you put in. Disturbing, at the least to see how things can be warped

Re: "Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
A ridiculous government propaganda website. Government agencies like the DEA have incentive to keep drugs into the country and to keep addicts hooked, because otherwise they wouldn't have their jobs. They just act of course like they don't.

I hope by "one of these" you don't mean a thread just to bitch about freevibe and the gov, wahhhh they hate drugs, I could care less.
It's when they start lying to us, and seeing how far they can push the envolope of "truth and justice" through these kind of outlets that make me mad. I'd assume a moderator of this forum would at least kind of agree with me?
Edit: This is why erowid should be plugged and donated to a helluvalot more, because it is one of the only websites showing comprehensive data, facts, and experiences, instead just giving a opinionated general concept of drugs.

I dont know if anyone has said this already but freevibe probably didn't make up those stories. However freevibe moderators failed to delete them because they aren't concerned with fairness.

That website might be propaganda, but what do you expect? Do you think that the govt will use tax payers money on a website that just contradicts itself?
I am in no way for propaganda, but The NIH, NIDA and DEA are very valuable chemistry resources. They're govt websites, so you can go and see most unconfidential files. I'm estimating about 3/5ths of my drug-chem library was downloaded from those websites. These aren't short-assed abstracts either. I'm talking about super-detailed 20 page pdf files detailing precise procedures for 2C's for example.

Re: "Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
Pooter, thats valid, but the DEA and those other sources you mentioned arn't exactly the ones doing the influencing, or advertising.
While you might be able to get detailed instructions on there, the actual places that are trying to convince a average joe are the places like freevibe, or antidrug.
edit: And while the government might not spend money promoting what nixon hated, they should at least be held accountable when they promote misinformation so obviously

there have been plenty of people before trying to change this, and there are plenty now. there will be more in the future.
it makes not a damn bit of difference.
people are ignorant, and fighting ignorance at that level, you just can't win. i'm not saying don't try, but i for one am too jaded to think twice about it.

Re: "Freevibe" website doesnt seem very free...
vilbe, I am sure there are tons of police officers out there that know a shit load about drugs, some probably even know how to make them... Not every cop is a dumb fat piece of shit... just the majority of them, but I am 20 right now... I could change my mind about life and become a filthy lying pig in 10 years, and I would know a fair amount about how the street works, what to look for and where to look, but I won't, just like every young man and woman should decide to do (on their own accord, not on being told "Fuck Da Police" and "Kill Cops!")
And as for Freevibe... that is just something to be ignored, that is the only thing that will make them go away... like the westboro people, you just have to not look, and not care (which is so fucking hard when people are so fucking ignorant!!!)
Freevibe has been doing the same stupid shit for years, and you know, all those kids posting there, probably didn't do drugs. They probably experimented and felt too overwhelmed with brainwashed guilt and feeling of 'change' that they went AGAINST drug use. They did this to make them selves feel better for conforming to what mom and TV said. Yet they still get to feel "hard" for having been a skinny starving drug addict smoking all of one joint a day and two and a half beers on the weekend and turning their shit around 'for the better.'
They are just the ultimate pussies that can't look past illegality to be able to enjoy something that has been enjoyed for hundreds of years.
WORD!

Oh, I agree. Sorry, my sarcasm isn't directed at you, but rather the ultimate cause of it. After moderating this forum for three years, I get sort of jaded seeing the same topics come up again and again (Meta, I have no idea how you do it!). I'm getting the impression that things just don't change at the governmental level. If only we didn't have to complain about government propaganda...
