Blue-Ray wins....again.
http://dvd.ign.com/articles/851/851156p1.html
"February 11, 2008 - With the death rattle of the HD DVD format still sounding in the air, Netflix toady announced that it will soon begin stocking their high-definition films exclusively in the Blu-ray format. The company, which has until recently opted to stock both formats, cited the recent shift in studio allegiances as the main reason for the decision, as well as quoted the statistic that of those customers who've opted to receive high-definition DVDs, the majority selected Blu-ray as their preference."

That would be a win for all sides.
Side note: I'm wondering why Apple and Sony don't team up when it comes to the PS3. Apple can offer a lot to Sony and Vise versa. I know that Apple and Sony used to be competitors and still are in some aspects but they do generally get along and they can unite against a common enemy?

Re: Blue-Ray wins....again.
Blu-ray=good media
Blu-ray=bad gaming (in a sense, I've read about some data problems that require a HD install that is in the GIGS eg. DMC4 and Hot Shots Golf Game, among others)

Yeah, I read this earlier, and I laughed. out loud. literally.
I seriously think that one main reason HD-DVD failed is because takes longer to say and sounds less appealing to customers.
Blu-Ray just sounds cool.

Re: Blue-Ray wins....again.
There is a difference between the 2, but it is too minute to tell. I feel i do not need blu ray OR hd dvd. i already spent money on the movies, i am not spending more money (more both in the fact that it costs more, and i would be buying the same thing twice)
I am not against blu ray, it is too expensive, and no matter who wins, standard definition we have to at least be backward compatible, if not still around as a source of media. But it does not matter since eventually movies will be a digital download, and there will be no difference. between the internet and tv

Until High speed internet is widely available in the US, i'm backing Blue-Ray. I've been and lived in enough places to know that there is indeed still a large amount of people on Dial up and DSL.

the speed that technology keeps improving will speed up, i would not be surprised to see the start of pure high speed internet entertainment in our life time. The cable company, who offers tv and internet will probably be first to do it.

Re: Blue-Ray wins....again.
I don't care. It's not like I'm going to shell out a ton of money for a Blu-Ray player when it first comes out.
Remember when VHS players came out and it was super expensive, but within like a year they got extremely cheap? Same thing with DVD. Same thing will happen with whatever wins this round.
