| Better Living Through Chemistry Discussions of any and all sorts of mind-warping chemicals, pills, booze, mind machines, trippy stuff, current street prices, importing pharmaceuticals, smart drugs, nutrients, herbs, and altered states. Please try to keep your conversations "theoretical" in nature, since this is an open conference. |

Charged with drug trafficking. (Canada)
So my friend got charged with 2 counts of possession with intent to traffic.
he got booked with 11 grams of hash, and 50 or so pills of E
while hes fairly confident he can get the trafficking charge dropped to just possession the E however is another story.
Being a schedule III drug, with 50 individual packaged pills he could be in quite the shitpile.
The thing is he only got searched because another friend got booked, and while the "sting" was meant for him he got searched as well (police did not ask for consent, but he didnt openly state he was not consenting)
Do you think my friend should dish out the $ for a lawyer or let the court appointed PD handle it.
Does he have a case?
Is he looking at jail time (first offense, still young only 18)

Re: Charged with drug trafficking. (Canada)
If he was in England, he'd probably just get a reprimand, a fine or maybe community service for possession of hash and supply of ecstasy, but I don't know your legal system, so this post is probably quite pointless...

I hope they put him away for life. Maybe even the death penalty. Scum like him (and you too, now that I think about it) don't deserve to live.
Maybe you can visit him in MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON!

First offence and 18, he's probably looking at community service and rehab. But with Canada's legal system any crazy bullshit could happen especially when dealing with Es.

Re: Charged with drug trafficking. (Canada)
That sucks man I thought it was the case that here in Canada you can get a manslaughter charge add on when you are accused of selling E. The logic is that E is soo dangerous and some people alledgedly can die from just one pill. I rember reading about it in the National Post a year or two ago. But all is not lost I got caught with close to an ounce of weed on me. All I got was possesion and had to do some community serivce. I did it at habitat for humanity met this carpenter who took me on as an apprentice so shit turned out really well for me. But on the other hand you got caught with E so think your about to get fucked up the metaporhical ass.

Re: Charged with drug trafficking. (Canada)
i know of a guy who got caught with just over 100 e and is serving prison time. makes me think back to when i was 18 and i bought 200 e and carried them all around in one bag like an idiot. i wasn't very concerned about the penalties for drugs. i'm really lucky i didn't get searched for any reason then.

Re: Charged with drug trafficking. (Canada)
Yes, obviously he should empty his pockets to get a good lawyer. I know someone who is in prison for 2 years because he got popped with seven rolls and a little bit of pot. He had a public defender. Another friend of mine has been arrested with over 100, and he served three months. It's all because he had a good lawyer.
I don't know how it is in Canada, but here money can always buy freedom. Poor people get caught with drugs and they are criminals, but rich people get caught with drugs and they are good people who just made a mistake. Go figure.
