Stone pieces
So I just got this piece made out of stone. I don't have a camera otherwise I would take pics. It works really well for smoking weed but I tried smoking salvia out of it and ended up inhaling leaf. Next time, I'll use a pipe screen. Do you guys like stone pieces? or should I have gotten a Glass piece?

Re: Stone pieces
Why should we judge what works for you when you can do so way easier. Why don't you get a glass AND stone. Use the stone until you can afford the glass and then compare.
I never use stone so I don't really know since you're asking.

Re: Stone pieces
No, I wont return it. I am simply curious of other peoples opinions of them and, how they think one compares to a glass pipe or even a metal pipe for that matter.

Re: Stone pieces
I personally like glass over stone, but stone over metal. My glass pipe hits very smooth and tastes great, while my metal pipe is a horrid piece of shit. I like my stone pipe because no matter how big or tight I pack the bowls, it will always smokes. It's all up to personal preferrence, but that's the way I see it.

Re: Stone pieces
Don't smoke salvia like that.
Now, inhaling shit from the bowl does not matter on the type of pipe so much as the individual pipe itself, and the size of the draw hole in the bowl. In most pipes this can be fixed with a glass jack or star in glass pipes, or metal screens in metal pipes and some other pipes, depending in the shape of the bowl.
For stone pipes, I usually don't care. I just try to get the resin to build up quickly and simply draw carefully as the bowl turns to ash. I just picked up two stone pieces from Mexico, one shaped as an elephant. My friend drew too hard while we christened it and got ash, but I've been careful. Soon it wont be a problem.
As far as how 'good' a pipe is, it depends on the individual pipe. Glass is slick, theres so many kinds you can get, theres color changing glass, it does not get unbearably hot quickly. But it could break very easily. Then again, you can get very thick glass, very good brands ... I have some I've dropped numerous times without damage.
Metal wouldn't break, but it get hot. Its pretty plain. Some complain about a taste.
Stone is in between. Soap stone isn't too strong, you can get better kinds. I like the 'shotgun-flower' soapstone pipes with he removable bowl India ships over though. I think the ones I got from Mexico are onyx or agate or something.
Some people like wooden pipes. Some people even prefer corncobs. Look around, try them all.

Re: Stone pieces
I have a double-bowled copper pipe that hits beautifly and tastes great.
Not sure, but isnt stone porus and might catch some of the THC?
Sorry for the spelling, that pipe works very well with hash :)
