Default Installing an HP CDROM on Debian/Ubuntu?

I have no clue where to start, so any help would be appreciated greatly.

Getting my machine to recognize an HP CD-RW drive that I connected. It´s not connected via USB if that´s what your thinking. It´s an internal thing.

Everything is attached to the motherboard. The type of cable is kind of important. Think you could look it up in the drives documentation, or just describe what it looks like? At the very worst, you could post a picture of it and we could go from there.

To be honest, no, because unless the drive is sata (narrow cable) and the hard drive is IDE (wide cable), that looks like a modern hard drive.

Want to link to a product page of the burner?

I looked for a really long time, but all the HP pages say ¨this page moved" or something along those lines.

All I know is HP CDWriter.

I´m just gonna fiddle with the cables.

On an unrelated note, whenever I want to type an apostrophe I have to tap the key twice. Otherwise it does this: ¨ïtś.¨

Any way to fix that?
