I've already revolted. Know where that got me, in 1995? A tax lien! Know how long it took me to pay off? Nearly 5 years. Know how much I spent on a tax attorney? Nearly a month's salary. So you'll have to pardon me if I seem a little less than optimistic.

I am not paying my taxes that day. I hope you will join me

You mean you're not
filing taxes that day? Because you've already paid them in, if you work a job that automatically withholds Federal, FICA & State taxes from your check. In that case,
not filing your taxes by April 15th will likely recover some of those lost wages. Unless you're childless and living well above poverty level, in which case they will rape you even more, in addition to the withholdings they've gotten out of you in the past year. If you're spitting out kids and your annual wages put you barely over the poverty line, they'll give you some back, as Uncle Sam likes to reward poor people who keep breeding, even though they can barely afford to sustain their family.
If you're self-employed or a 1099 contractor and don't file your year-end returns, prepare to take it up the ass when the long arm of the auditors find you. You will then be considered a
Tax Evader, and they've got special a special vacation resort package customized for people like you, located in the not-so-sunny Federal Prison System. For ease of transportation and convenience, it just so happens that they've got resort locations in all 50 states of the U.S. of A!
Iris is probably hoping for a large group of renegade tax evaders to pull together and not file their returns this year, because at roughly 11% interest and even harsher penalties that will rack up against them - she stands to get an even BIGGER chunk of their hard-earned money! Once the elections are over and the protesters have put down their signs, shuffling back to their jobs and getting back to the real business of keeping food on their table and the lights on,
Iris will be waiting patiently in the shadows, rubbing her hands together with glee and preparing her evil auditing monkeys to harass the living shit out of these rebels. Meanwhile, the tax attorneys (they are not really on our side, folks) are laughing all the way to the bank, because they know that a frightened taxpayer who stands to lose their home will shell out big money for adequate representation in the form of a negotiated PAYMENT PLAN to that whore
Iris, who isn't even kind enough to lift all the penalties and interest that racked up while the public was feeling large and in-charge during their protesting phase.
The only way a tax-filing dropout protest would work is if there were at least 50% of the taxpaying public who refused to file, and then just maybe
Iris would run out of enough manpower to collect it all back in the short-term, which might buy us some more time until the next election when there is a snowball's chance in hell that another candidate who supports abolishing the IRS will make the ballot.
But 50% participation is a pipe dream, for most Americans realize that evading the IRS puts them in the position of possibly losing their homes, their savings accounts, and their future wages. Maybe even their jobs! Again, unless you're self-employed or a 1099 contractor, most companies frown upon those with tax liens, as the responsibility falls on the employer to see to it that 945 "backup withholding" is taken out of their paychecks to reimburse the IRS for their "loss". An employee who is collecting only a little more than half of their annual salaries tends to be bitter, unproductive employees. Even the 1099 contractors and the self-employed stand to get fucked with backup withholding, for the IRS will make it impossible for them to get a state business license, because guess what? You have to file this little Waiver for Workman's Compensation, which is a state document that is filed with Papa Fed, giving them full disclosure of your activities as a wage-collecting citizen.
The only loophole to use liberally here would be to contract yourself out for as many under-the-table jobs as possible, hopping around from job to job and earning below the $600-$1200 from those who pay you, for if you earn more, they will be required to file a 1096 form at the end of the year reporting what they paid
you, so THEY don't have to pay taxes on what YOU earned.
The IRS has had nearly 100 years to hone their practices to make sure there are as few loopholes as possible for people to crawl through and seek relief from wage-raping. And they offset the probability of large, organized protests by dangling the bone of Earned Income Credit refunds and "economic stimulus returns" in front of the faces of those who don't make much to begin with, tricking them into believing that it is in their best interests to "take advantage" of the tax system.
It's a mess. A huge, garbled, bungled up mess.
