Is this the season for wavy caps? (Psilocybe cyanescens)
As I was just out having a cig in my garden, I looked down and noticed some brown, wavy capped mushrooms.
I know not to eat them if I'm not 100% sure, but before I pick them and do a spore test etc, would they grow at this time of year? Fairly warm weather with a lot of rain.
They look EXACTLY like these - http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/photos/Psilocybe_cyanescens(fs-02).jpg
They probably are just look-a-likes, but you never know :p

The caps are about 2 to 3cm across, maybe the biggest one being 4cm.

LOOKS good, though that doesn't count for much without MOAR pix.

Do you live in within these areas?
Also, is it growing on wood chips or mulch?

Growing on mulch, and I live in England.
What colour should the stem be for cyanescens?

Spore print them before you eat them. Take a look at this guide, it'll have the info needed to identify them. Then cross reference them with the poisonous look-a-likes to make sure.

If any look-a-like I thought they would be Conocybe Filaris. But I suppose they could be a Galerina.
Just guna wait until spore print is done.

AMANITIN
that looks poisonous....fucking eat it...
the worst that might happen is organ failure and then death.
http://americanmushrooms.com/graphics/z006.jpg
thats the deadliest form of mushroom poisoning right there.
Edit: the gills look kind of trippy in the miniature pic....eh...tqake that as a sign and die....

I was actually going to bitch at you that this...

Familiar with mycology? If yes, please try to include those features which define the classification structures, if you would.
If not, well... don't eat anything you find on the ground, no matter what it's spore print. ;)
Ain't no diss, it's just that these are the things you need to know if you even wanna look at mushrooms 'cause they're pretty without gambling lives on it...

^ one of the caps you can see the gills curling over, and they are CINNAMON which is a dead give away that they are not psilocybin.

Re: Is this the season for wavy caps? (Psilocybe cyanescens)
season doesn't start for a few more weeks(like 2). I usually start the outdoor patch on march 3rd. I'd personally grow my own if I were you. It's pretty easy with wood chips. Wait, yeah, check if the shrooms in question are growing on wood chips(but still don't eat them).

The spore print is a browny purple, so I wasn't going to eat them anyway unless it was a definate purpley black.
But cheers for your post, now I know what to look for (well, more than I do now).

You fail at comprehending intention.
