Marijuana withdrawal rivals that of nicotine

http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSCOL45569020080204?feedType=RSS&feedName=healthNews&rpc=22&sp=true

This is the biggest piece of propaganda I've ever seen. Why would they even publish this?

I thought the article held some weight.

"quitting marijuana caused symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, sleep problems and difficulty concentrating, researchers found."

All that happens to me whenever I stop a daily routine of toking. The article forgot to mention that if those symptoms actually stopped someone from quitting they have absolutely no will power. Anyone that isn't a pussy could easily handle those symptoms.

Nicotine withdrawal can actually put some people in the hospital and is WAY worse than marijuana 'withdrawal'.

The article is stupid because those symptoms are very easy to cope with. A nicotine addict will be in constant torture without a smoke, while a pot head will feel a little bit shitty for a few days.

^^TRUE^^

BTW, after extensive studying of the withdrawal effects of weed, from Personal Experience, I have concluded that weed has no (physical) withdrawal symptoms. The problem of "wanting to smoke" fades off after about a week, IMO.

Only problem i get when i haven't choofed in a while, is i'm just sitting at the computer, then i think how bored i am, then i think how un-bored i would be with some green.
Thus, the only craving i get is to be un-bored, so i go next door and buy some weed.

No problem at all, infact by him living next door, makes less problems for me, i don't have to run around some ghetto to try score some fuckin weed, or drive to a place to meet some guy who gives shit deals.
All i have to do is knock on the door, walk in, get a deal and smoke up at his house for awhile.
Im not some fuckin pussy who needs his weed to relax and be able to function properly, its been 3 weeks since i have smoked weed and im fine, besides my sleeping problems which i have fixed anyway (no, not by drinking alcohol every night).

Its not really their fault... well it is for getting addicted in the first place. But when someone smokes a pack a day for 30 years, and then goes cold turkey their brain can't function without the nicotine. The change is just so drastic that the body is in shock/confusion. That won't happen with weed.

i guess thats possible. its just hard to believe. all i got from quitting smoking was the shits and a headache for like a week. i only smoked for 10 or 11 years though(also roughly a pack a day), so i guess like 30 years could be 3 times worse theoretically

i dont know. if i had smoked a pack a day for 30 years though i don't think i'd be trying to quit. probably be more resigned to my cancerous death.

Its not just the quitting that puts some people in the hospital. I am assuming you are in decent health, well if someone that already has medical problems goes cold turkey they may be in for more than just the shits.

Quitting nicotine = stress on the body. Stress = bad.
Stress + health problems = magnification of health problems = hospital.

i call bullshit on nicotine withdrawal necessitating hospitalization. find one proof positive example of this.

My friends mom? I don't have any scientific proof, but trust me, if someone is already sick, and they quit, the stress makes them way worse. I'm sure theres documented cases, I just don't care enough to find them.

^I understand your skepticism, but how long have you been a daily smoker? Hospitalizations from nicotine withdrawal would be a lot more common in older people, with weak bodies that can't handle the stress.

For an example, if an elderly man has high blood pressure and goes cold turkey after 40 years of daily smoking, that is going to be a huge shock to his system. Most old people aren't in great shape, and with an additional blood condition it could push him over the edge.

He probably wouldn't be in critical condition or anything, but he could easily pass out, which would require medical attention.

well once i smoked about a four drags from a cig and i was nauseous for a half hour and i actually threw up once.

but once i graduated to smoking 20 joints(cigarettes) of tobacco a day it didnt fuck me up any more....it just relieved my craving...thats it.

imagine smoking 20 joints of weed a day....do you think weed would blow you away like it first did? no. Infact it would just relieve whatever symptoms you have from lacking THC. you know why? its a thing called fucking tolerance....dependence(maybe for only 1% of weed smokers)

maybe you dont know math and basic measurements

LET ME BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU...

Cigarette =.9 grams on scale

Joint = 1 gram

what I'm saying is tolerance rises accordingly...

No I'm not retarded, and I'm glad you asked because I was just getting to my point.

some people in this thread agree that both have withdraw symptoms...some say cigs are harder to quit, some say they are easier....

what I'm saying is that its pretty much equally as hard to quit weed and cigs...for myself that is...but then again im not smoking a pack of cigarettes worth of weed a day.

the reason why most people can quit weed with no problem is because they dont smoke for 15 fucking years straight.

USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN.

someone please show me where I'm wrong instead of just telling me i failed, i deserve blue peter badges, and that im retarded....those are just cop out replies.

Wow, that DID suck.

Anyways, I don't smoke very much. Hardly ever, and even then only if its free and a close(ish) friend offers. The stuff doesn't really trip my trigger.

I've seen people say that they 'crave' real bad for it, but within a few days the only reason they want it is for the feeling. Not that they need it.

I will always say that pot is a recreational drug. People who say they need it to survive are a bunch of ignorant wusses who also say that they need alcohol to go to sleep at night.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this yet, but the study size was 12 adults. Even with my rudimentary knowledge of statistics, I know that a sample size of 12 can't possibly be applied to the population as a whole with any accuracy.

Yeah.. what are you gonna do if you're not high? Be like "Aw man." Then, yeah, you might have the problems (i sure do) sleeping and shit, but it's not really.. directly marijuana? if it makes sense.

A cig.. when you crave one.. is about the most amazing thing in the world, all the buzzing inside your head is Silenced....

and you feel real good.

Yeah there are "withdrawals" to marijuana (which I am about to experience tomorrow) but I have picked up cig butts at the mall when I have had no money, so it's a different story there..
