I took a capsule of 5-htp last night before I went to bed. In the middle of the night, I woke up and noticed something really strange: an enormous origami crane floating a foot above my head. I reached out to grab it and realized that it was not real. I went back to sleep, not wanting to see more weird shit. I have a feeling that this was triggered by the 5-htp.

But... L-tryptophan (5-htp) metabolizes into serotonin and melatonin in the body. Then melatonin turns into pinoline, and then pinoline turns into 5-MeO-DMT, and then that turns into DMT.

Just thought I would throw that out there. Probably not the reason why.

Hmmmmm..... I don't think 5-HTP would bring on hallucinations like that. I take it (100mg 3 times a day) and besides the over all mood lift the only thing I've noticed is my dreams seem much more vivid. Could you have just been dreaming and thought you were hallucinating?

Yea, could have been a false awakening. It's probable.

It sounds possible that you were still dreaming. I've had incredibly realistic dreams from the stuff.
