Volcano Vaporizers Banned in U.S by Customs
Yep. A friend of mine tried buying a Volcano the other day at a headshop, and was told they had unloaded there stock and would not be getting anymore shipments do there importation into the U.S being barred by customs. I thought this was a some weird bullshit story, until I was at a local shop and the employee's confirmed the ban, marking up there Volcano's to $600. I'm going to contact Storz & Bickel after I get off work, but things are looking looking pretty grim for the Steel Wonder. Thoughts/experiences/words of remembrance for the greatest vaporizer ever designed?
edit: Here's a link claiming that the volcano has NOT been banned. There's more out there, but I'm having trouble finding them.

nevertheless, if true; WHAT THE FUCK WILL THIS ACCOMPLISH?
Vaporizers are safer, and more efficient....i just dont see any way they can ban a machine.

Is this part of operation Pipe Dream?
Anyway, this is fucking ridiculous.Vaporizers are the safest way to smoke and the government bans them.Is this supposed to stop stoners from smoking? Shit makes no sense.

Re: Volcano Vaporizers Banned in U.S by Customs
This doesn't seem right... I don't see any legal way they could ban them... What are they claiming as their reason for banning them? If they were legal enough to be put into production, then what has changed? I used to work for a customs house broker for a while; maybe it has something to do with importing/exporting from the specific country? Or possibly it has something to do with the licensing, etc of the electronics in it? All electronics need to meet specifications and regulations, and need to be properly marked. Perhaps some sort of regulation on electronics being imported has changed and they didn't update their product to meet it, or something... Because otherwise I can honestly see no way that they'd be able to do this.

I can go get one right now at this headshop that I know of. Too bad I don't have the money for it though. Oh well, papers/pipes/bongs been doing me good so far.
Peace.

Re: Volcano Vaporizers Banned in U.S by Customs
On a barely relatable note, I was at a convenient store with my dad, and he went in to buy some papers since we ran out, and I got him to grab me one of those 5-hour energy things.
On the way out he told me about when the papers were scanned a voice came out of the register saying that he had to be 19... for PAPER!!!
He said something about paper not being a controlled substance, and the lady said "but you put the controlled substance in it!" which is offensive all on its own, for the fact that she assumed my dad was going to break the law, and that he is a stoner (both true lol)
He asked about lighters, and it is the same deal... peoples ID is now going to be SCANNED!!!!!! for lighters and papers...
I will never buy a lighter or papers again, I don't need some fucking record of my constant purchase of bic lighters and zig zag blues.

Re: Volcano Vaporizers Banned in U.S by Customs
It's pretty much always been age restricted for buying lighters and papers/blunt wraps... Although in most spots it's 18, I've heard in some places it's 21. It wouldn't surprise me since some states allow you to gamble at 18 (In Texas you can buy lotto tickets and stuff at 18) and in other states it's 21 (In Arizona you can't buy one unless you're 21 :/ ) I don't get it really either, but... *shrugs* Funny story though. One time a while ago I went to buy a lighter and they carded me, I was like, "Do I NEED to be 18?". They of course said yes, so I showed them my ID, and they sold it to me. Then on my way out of the spot, I saw a box of match boxes, for free. All you had to do was take one. I said, "So you have to be 18 to buy a lighter, but matches are free to anyone who wants them?" and the person behind the counter just stared at me for a minute and shrugged dumbly...

i had the same thing happen to me 10 years ago when i tried to buy a lighter at a cvs. i couldnt believe it. at the time i needed it for candles and was dumbfounded. so lighters are considered paraphenalia too. i wonder if the next time i get pulled over if i should stash my lighters too. lol.

The link I provided definitely did not "prove" they hadn't been banned, as you can find a lot more forums all over the internet with people talking about seized shipments of volcanos.

my favorite are the gas stations with the free matches that actually card you for a lighter...

Yeah umm, by the way, the store clerk doesn't make the laws. Don't treat him like a dumbfuck just because he is bound by dumb laws.

She meant that the tobacco that goes in them was the controlled substance. Or, she COULD have meant that anyway.

Re: Volcano Vaporizers Banned in U.S by Customs
I tried buying a lighter at this place called 2001 the other day. This is basically the place that sells cigs, dip and other shit to underage kids. I'm 14, I wanted to get a lighter, so I said I was 17 (I look kinda old, I think) and the Indian guy said I need to be 18, but I just said, "Come on, it's only a year difference." Then another person came in and he said real sketchy "Gimme 2 bucks, put it in ur pocket." like he didn't want the other person to see.

Re: Volcano Vaporizers Banned in U.S by Customs
i just dont see any way they can ban a machine.
Same way they ban a plant, the same way they ban books, same way they ban anything. First they talk about it for awhile, then they write some shit down, then no one tells them to fuck off and it's banned.
