Default Mushroom trip= Taste of schizophrenia?

I was reading some reports and some like lab testing/experiments on people and ive seen in several places something about a mushroom trip being similar to that of the beginning stages of schizophrenia? But then at the same time its possible in the future that psilo may be used to treat schizophrenic people?

Any care to set the record straight on what i read, and why it doesnt make sense to me?

I blasted off on my first trip and had hallucinations and such but it didnt seem as a panic/mentally negative trip, with effects being able to relate to a schizo like state, that being for basic auditory/visual hallucinations....I enjoyed myself.

NOT CONFUSING THIS WITH THE IDEA- that shrooms can bring out latent mental disorders in someone.

Any hallucinogen, especially LSD and Psilocybin, have traits that are similar to symptoms of alot of schizophrenic patients.

As far as using these things to treat schizophrenia, the results have been inconclusive (as far as I know). They were using LSD as a treatment for this (as well as other uses, such as interrogation) in the 50s. Some results show that nothing happened differently for the patients, some say that they got better.

With a condition like schizophrenia, it's really hard to find a treatment. The most effective one that I know of is the placebo effect, as well as anti-psychotic medication, but alot of people hate that stuff...I have a friend that tried an anti-psychotic med, and he said it was more of a tranquilizer than anything...So you're still crazy, you just can't really move all that much, so it takes away your ability to do crazy things.

I agree. I guess you could compare the states of mind, but I highly doubt being schizo is anything like a permanent shroom trip. Just because you realize a different reality doesn't mean that your new shroom reality is anything like that of a schizoid.

Other than the fact that there is documented evidence that they've been used to try to treat schizophrenia.

They ARE similar. The delusions and "daylight hallucinations" that schizophrenic patients may see have been very similar to mushroom/LSD trips that people have had. Maybe if you could read, you'd find this information plastered all over the fucking place from reputable places.

So yeah, learn to read - you stupid cunt.

Hell no! Salvia is an instant come up, I see more black than colors, intense confusion and it ends after about 15 minutes, not to mention I wouldnt call it pleasant at all. Whereas mushrooms are one of the most fun drugs I can think of, and are very nice mixture of pleasure and intensity. Mushrooms - 10 Salvia - 4 on my drug scale.

Any idiot can read freevibe.com, otherwise we wouldn't have so many of them out there. Once again hallucinations have no relation to schizophrenia, how many times must I repeat this before you wise the fuck up?

Of course any idiot can read freevibe, but until they cross-reference that information, they have no way of telling if it's true or not.

A source like erowid is much better, with links to external sources and documents that have been saved by the scientists who synthed and/or thoroughly studied these things. Information from many different sources is the only way to get proper information.

So, to answer your question, you can repeat yourself as many times as you want. However, until I see proof from a reputable source, I'm going to have to say that you're fucking full of shit, and don't know what you're talking about.

EDIT: Also, I should note that I somewhat agree with you. There is NO direct relation between schizophrenia and psychedelics.

However, there is similarities between say, an LSD experience and the way a schizophrenic thinks. They are similar, but that does not mean that they are related.

There are probably similarities between me and some kid I don't know in Japan. Does that mean there is any direct connection between us? No.

Yea just sort of mildly similar ideas automatically pair it up as having similar effects with mushrooms....pisses me off that what i read people had to compare it to that degree when its not something id say if i was tripping....I wouldnt be like oh hey this is how a schizo like brittany spears must feel..no not at all haha..

Ok I will break this down for you. Hallucinogens have been used to cure schizophrenia in isolated sessions by means of substituting bad memories and thought patterns with those that are happy and joyful. If these hallucinogens share the same similarities as schizophrenia, why would they be needed or used to induce this type of psychotherapy? This is the proof that shows you hallucinogens have no correlation to the illness if they can be used to induce altered states that differ from the existing hallucinations/delusions of schizophrenia and cure it. If these hallucinations you get from drugs are near same to what a paranoid schizophrenic sees, the drug step could be skipped and the patient could go straight to mental therapy...

Yes, that is true, however schizophrenia has proved to be a very diverse condition, in which is varies for alot of people.

There have been many reports where LSD has been given to a patient, and he doesn't feel any different, at all... Care to explain that one?

There is no cure to schizophrenia, only a treatment that may or may not be successful. Hallucinogens have been used to treat schizophrenia, but results have been inconclusive because of the difference between certain cases.

I can explain it in one word. BULLSHIT. those "patients" were given a government sponsored PLACEBO to make the average american ignoramus doubt any therapeutic potential for hallucinogens.

If you want to experience schizophrenia (god knows why you would) then buy ALOT of meth or amps. Stay up for 6 days straight and you will be crazy. Seriously I did this a little while ago and you are fucking BANANAS.

I was hallucinating like fucking crazy, hearing crazy voices ect. I heard something outside my house (nothing was there) and I thought someone was breaking so I ran to get my gun. Sleep deprivation really makes you insane.

Shroom hallucinations are probably not similar to being skizo in anyway.

how can a non-schizophrenic person compare something to schizophrenia?

The majority of the reports (regarding LSD anyways) were before LSD was criminalized, and was JUST beginning to become popular in extremely small social circles. The government would have no motive at that point in time to spread false propaganda concerning LSD.

Fair enough, but I mean more 'insanity' then tripping. I know I can't really compare, but I imagine sleep deprivation is WAY more similar to schizophrenia then shrooms are. I have done shrooms many times and know several schizophrenic people and sleep deprivation made me act like the skitzos, while shrooms did not.

If you want to experience insanity, rather then tripping, then sleep deprivation is the way to go. And schizophrenia literately makes you insane.

I have never seen such reports and thus I will disregard them along with the rest of your bullshit. Drugs have no relation to schizophrenia or mental illness of any kind. Any report of such is media propaganda created to deter people from drug use.

Thats what I'm saying. If you want to experience something similar to schizophrenia then stay up for 8 days. Your brain stops fucking working, which is very different then being effected by shrooms or something.

And what I'm saying is that schizophrenia is a UNIQUE, one-of-a-kind mental state that cannot be compared to hallucinogen use in mentally healthy individuals. Staying up for a week is just a mindfuck that takes you out of sequence with reality.

Oh god, the fail..

o be diagnosed with schizophrenia, a person must display:

* Characteristic symptoms: Two or more of the following, each present for a significant portion of time during a one-month period (or less, if successfully treated)
o delusions
o hallucinations
o disorganized speech (e.g., frequent derailment or incoherence; speaking in abstracts). See thought disorder.
o grossly disorganized behavior (e.g. dressing inappropriately, crying frequently) or catatonic behavior
o negative symptoms, i.e., affective flattening (lack or decline in emotional response), alogia (lack or decline in speech), or avolition (lack or decline in motivation).

Yup. When you Hallucinate, you know that what you are seeing is fake. When you are having delusions, then you think the stuff you are seeing could be real.
Schizophrenics are delusional. Most schizophrenics describe audio delusions, paranoia, and pseudo-visual delusions.
Schizophrenics don't usually 'see' delusional stuff, rather, they paranoidly think that they saw something out of the corner of their eye.

I remember the time I ate mushrooms without telling anyone and went to a bar with some friends. I couldn't concentrate or have fun because the entire time I was there two guys behind me were making a running commentary on all of my actions. They were out to get me in some way. As we were leaving, I asked my friend to take a circuitous route home in case we would be followed. After explaining the situation to my friend, he told me that he had heard nothing. He was sitting next to me the whole time.

Look at a DSM-IV. Hearing a running commentary by two people on one's actions is very common in paranoid schizophrenia. I've had that happen to me a couple times since then. Every time I was using psychadelic drugs. It doesn't happen to me while sober.

The thought processes of "normal" people high on lsd/psilo are similar to that of those suffering from schiz/bipolar. The way you think (to a degree) and connect things while high on those drugs is similar (not exactly the same obviously) to those two mental conditions.

this.

untill you actually TAKE some mushrooms or acid, you can't say shit.

having taken shrooms, and also suffered from one or 2 psychotic episodes, i can say that the 2 experiences are remarkably similar, the only difference being that the mushroom trips were alot more long and intense.

the psych first brings the patient up(drugged) to the same level as the problem(schizophrenic delusion), and then resolution can begin.

drugs, particularly mushrooms, can be used to direct the energies in a particularly opposite direction (not toward resolution, but bring you closer to schizophrenia)

I've definitely felt insane for small portions of some of my trips. Shrooms have such a wide range of effects that it makes sense that they would show some symptoms of scitzophrenia, a person under the influence can show flu symptoms etc on various drugs it doesn't mean they have the flu or that they're in a fully scitzo mindstate. They make you feel different and being crazy or scitzo makes you feel different too I guess/
