I have a friend who did cocaine a LOT , it became part of her everyday life. She had a coke a buddy, who she would regularly pinch coke from.She lied to everyone.I didn't know. Lately we've become close and she would try and go longer and longer without it, before giving in. Months later she's on her 22nd day and the slightest thing makes her unable to think of anything but cocaine, she rocks back and forth, can barely breathe right and trouble making it to the next day. She says she's not addicted. If she isn't, than she likes it far more than any human being should. Lately it's gotten really bad, she'll burst out into tears, get insanely depressed, be extremely moody, and think cocaine is the only thing that can make it go away.
Has anyone had a friend like this ? Does anyone know what to do? We hang out a lot, close to daily, and i can usually distract her when she does think about it, or help more than if she's alone like she usually is.Over the last 6-8 months i've been getting into E, and acid and always had her to talk about, but if i so much as bring up any drug anymore, it makes her fiend for coke, i have to watch everything i say. What would you guys do in this situation?

Valium is cheaper and more socially accepted than cocaine. It is a progressive step, but nevertheless, not the ultimate solution to her problem.

If the situation exacerbates, get her into rehabilitation. The government does spend a lot of funding on these failities and they have tremendous success rates-if your friend thinks that it is in her best interest.

Don't put her in a situation that makes her uncomfortable if she isn't willing to give it her all.

Hard to send someone to rehab when they dont think they're addicted. I always tell her she's the only non-addict that goes threw withdrawal. It's in her family, her mother's addicted crack, and has no job her permanent residence. She gets the odd phone call from her, but they're never 'good'.
Rehab does not look like an option, her parents finding out.. again, not an option.

The hardest part about trying not to do it for me is being tired, having shit to do and just being around anything that reminds me of it.
