Default SWIM wants to start growing but...

Doesn't know where to do it. SWIM is afraid that if he does a set up in his closet, it will accidently catch fire while he is at work or school and his parents will kick him out of the house. SWIM also thought about using a storage shed in his backyard, which DOES has electricity going to it, but his parents would more than likely find out about it once it starts getting warmer in a month or 2 and they decide to do some outside work.

All that's left that SWIM can think of is to plant them outside, but then the wind and rain, SWIM lives in the south on coast so there is frequent rain, will ruin the crop.

You ppl are quite innovative. Help please?

an abandoned shack, or a secluded forest area that you can jury-rig a shack and fit with a generator.

don't risk growing on your parents property. Not only would you be risking their livelihood but also your own future, Its not worth it.

When you say the south coast, do you mean the south coast in the UK? Because I would imagine the south of the US would be more than ideal for growing and if you meant the south coast in the UK then I can say I come from there and I have successfully grown outdoors and know a few others who have too.

Just find somewhere sheltered and out of the wind where it will not be found/seen yet will gain plenty of sunlight.
A little wind and rain is no problem as long as you don't get any floods. Just read up a bit on growing outdoors and seasonal weather/temperatures.

Growing weed is a hell of a lot easier than a lot make it out to be but on the other hand growing weed successfully with high yields is a completely different matter.

Ya but if the quality is shit then whats the point?

The ground outside is pretty shitty. I guess I can leave the plants in their pots and just put them somewhere in the woods or a thicket?

Yes I know but a lot of people make out that it is some super difficult plant to grow that requires a ton of high tech equipment and that it is impossible to grow good weed to harvest outside in temperate climates.

if the quality is shitty you could still do bho, but that might be way too much butane, and by that i mean fucking expensive.

Ya..uh..growing weed in your parents house without their consent or knowledge is pretty difficult. More like, it's near impossible.

People always say growing in your parents house is worse than growing in your own house, but I don't see it that way. If your parents are not renting than there's little risk, someone (LE, etc) finds out unless you have interior work done (painter, plumber, electrician) and somebody stumbles upon your grow, or you open your big fat mouth. Loose lips sink ships. But in the case you get caught by the hand of the law you do fuck your parents over, hard, which really isn't fair.

Anyway, the chances of something like a cfl catching fire are slim to none. Even if you nigger rig it, the chance is still low. I wouldn't worry about that.

Plant them outside. That's what I did. :)
Plants need rain and wind. Rain brings water and the wind strengthens the stalk so your plants better support the weight of the bud. Though if you have a top heavy plant, b/c of a big cola, and there's a nasty wind storm, you risk having your plant blown over (This happened to me, but it was nearing harvest time anyway, so it didn't matter)

Easy peezy, up 'n easy - as long as you have nutrients, sun, and water in the right ratios, it ain't no rocket science. ;)

I grew 4 plants in my room without my parents knowing and when I told them a year later they were pretty amazed. Infact for pretty anti drug parents they seemed almost impressed.

I say plant outside, in a ton of places. You don't need to water them all. As long as you have a semi-secluded area near you, it should not be a problem. Plant them in a lot of different areas, but make sure you remember all of them!

with the right levels of nutrients, sunlight, water, and getting rid of the male plants... you can have a pretty fucking good outdoor grow... but its a little cold to be growing anything this time of year in the southeast... but spring is in just a few months...

and hell even if it is shitty, make butane honey oil...

SWIM found a nice florescant light that he will grow the seedlings with in the shed and then plant them outside when they grow bigger and aren't as fragile.

This, first thing SWIM should do is stop using SWIM. No one is going to get busted because they asked how to grow a couple plants online.

Details?

My room is pretty much separated from the rest of the house and I have my own bathroom. I keep a lot of fish and I think at the time I had 9 aquariums going in my room. This was a great excuse for the light and noise.

Anyway I used a 24x12x12 to grow the seedlings out with additional CFLs as well as the double flourecent on the aquarium. I then moved them to a 48x24x24 and grew them out again with the same lights and flowered them at about 24inches with a bit of careful training.

All i did was completely seal the aquariums with black card and told my parents it was an important breeding project and not to touch it. I also had a hole in the lid for a fan as well as fans actually inside the aquarium for circulation and another extraction fan running through a carbon filter although its effectiveness was debatable because I also had a fuck tonne of plugin air fresheners and the windows open constantly.

Probably a bit complicated for your average grower and kind of only works if you have a load of aquariums in your room and a genuine open passion for aquatics as an excuse (I work in the industry and also study it at college.)

I actually think that the aquatics industry and research could possibly be used for some kind of front and reasons to buy certain chemicals, money and large greenhouses/lights/power consumption in a large scale growing operation or other drug production. But that's just a random musing I realised whilst daydreaming in a lecture on cultivating aquatic plants and again in another about developing aquarium pharmaceuticals.

Edit: The strains I grew were northern light and bubblegum (It doesnt look, smell or taste anything like bubblegum) both are low growing indicas and although it was a mixed pack from a trusted friend I could not really tell the difference between the strains. All 4 plants were flowered at 24ins indoors and others did not grow very much past 3ft outdoors in bright sunlight. They are also very hardy plants although they tend to flower a bit late in the year if outdoors it shouldn't be a problem in milder climates.

Thank you!

If you think about much of the equipment used in aquatics especially equipment specialising in aquatic plants and to some extent reef keeping has great use in the cultivation of cannabis. High tech Planted aquariums such as these:

http://www.myfishtank.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/amanotank.jpg http://www.aquapage.eu/Prvky/Akvarium_hlavni.jpg

Are much more difficult to achieve than growing weed but with todays technology plants that are much more difficult to grow than a simple terrestrial plant can flourish. Of course they have some different requirements (the biggest being that those are aquatic and weed is terrestrial) (and the fact that weed grows much bigger, thus requiring more height) but in the end they aren't all that different.
One of the best things iv found with pretty much everything in life is that sometimes to achieve great things you have to break the mould, look at things from outside the box and do things differently.
Admittedly when I grew at home I never got high yields mostly because I flowered them at such an early stage but ultimately I never set out to grow them with the intention to actually harvest them it was more of a general interest thing.

Having a lot of aquariums and equipment hanging around also came in VERY handy with growing mushrooms too!

Credit for pictures goes to Takeshi Amano one of the worlds top aquascapers, aquarium photographers and cultivators of aquatic and terrestrial plants.

Edit: Just a few more pictures of examples of what it is possible to achieve in terms of planting an aquarium. I know its off topic but its just an example of what you can achieve with the equipment.

http://z.about.com/d/freshaquarium/1/0/5/v/PlantedTank.jpghttp://www.albanyaquarium.com/images/customer/JDiGiorgio.jpghttp://www.aquahobby.com/tanks/img/505sergio1.jpghttp://www.tetra-fish.co.uk/tetratropical/images/P2022784-2.jpg

These plants require a lot more light than weed to grow and much of it is reflected/"blocked" by the water. Just think what would happen if you put a terrestrial plant under it!

Wow tordek. I'm impressed. But man, you sound like me.

..got a passion for fish. But right now, I only have a 20g L up 'n running. I have an empty 10 and an brand new empty 40g breeder in my room. My bathroom doubles as storage space. I have a piece of driftwood and random pieces of plastic plants in the tub (I take showers in another bathroom, plus my water pressure sucks nuts) and a couple 5g buckets taking up floor space.

Plus, I work at an aquarium store. :p
I thought about studying marine biology in college ('cuz of fish), but figured if I choose to major in "general" biology I'll have more job options once I get out of school.

IIRC, over in the UK they have a specific major/area of study for aquarium management. I assume that's what you're doing? Kudos.

It's funny you used a tank & lights to grow out weed. Before I transplanted my seedlings outdoors, I started them out under an old hood I built. 2 x 20W Daylight fluoros a couple inches away from the seedlings. It worked out pretty decently.

I like how you used the breeding project as a front. My parents are also clueless when it comes to fish and usually don't fuck with my shit. Most of my drugs and paraphernalia is mixed in with fish stuff - filter boxes, uptake tubes, black thread, tweezers, thermometers, test kits, etc.

I've been trying to figure out a way to grow shrooms discretely and you may have just given me some inspiration.

I agree that he aquatic industry and mj growing go hand in hand. Hydro would be near a cake walk if you're used to dealing with pumps, tubing, balancing ph, using ferts, etc. MH/T5s are used in reef tanks, etc. The list goes on.

Do you have any pics by any chance? It'd be neat to see your setup.
