for me, hairs only distinguish schwag from mids and chronic. i honestly dont shop around because of my limitations, ie no car and not many hookups, but so far i havent bought anything terrible. ive found in my short experience smell and the amount of trichomes really shows the potential of t3h weedzors.

Re: Identifying good weed
If it gets you very high you can assume it's good weed. If it doesn't, it's not good weed.
Its really that simple.

If it looks dank, I buy.
If it looks like dirt, I don't buy.
Normally when I ask for heads, it doesn't look like dirt, y'dig? ;)

FTW!!! and just how pungent the aroma is. smell also shows how fresh it is. the stickyness shows the freshness. i like my bud fresh. crystals in the nice dro. lighter, definately green to lime ass green.
and if it smells like dirt then it is. if it smells like skunk, its good.

Re: Identifying good weed
type of smell, shade of green (dark doesnt automaticly mean bad), distance you can smell it from, size of stems, nug shapes, hairs, how dry/wet etc its pretty easy to spot good bud

Re: Identifying good weed
If you buy by weight, dryness is most important factor imo

Yeah.
Good weed can come in a variety of forms: simply looking at colour, red hairs, smell, etc. isn't a very accurate way of determining whether it's good or bad.
Basically, if it's dry and is covered in crystals then you're on to a winner.

Re: Identifying good weed
1. Seedy shit is shitty shit
2. Dense nugs = proper lightning/temperature/humidity and probably other conditions. Airy nugs = shitty conditions = shitty grower
3. Fully developed trichromes (mushroom shaped) = harvested at right time. underdeveloped trichs = premature harvest (like most beasters) = shitty quality
Also, overly swolen ovaries and mostly dead/dry pistils also indicate maturity.
4. Trichromes all clear = harvested bit too early. cloudy white/amber trichs = harvested at right time. All amber = harvested too late (thc broke down to cbd and cbn making for a lazy high)
5. Stems COMPLETLEY snap when slightly bent = properly dried.
stems are flexibe/break but still connected by fibers = too much moisture (so your probably paying for water weight as well)
Bud crumbles into dust = too dry (some ppl like it like that, not me)
6. Cashed buds have greysh/whiteish ash = quality plant that was flushed properly. the darker the resulting ash the more unflushed fertilizer.
7. Harsh smoke = unflushed fertilizer / moist buds / overdried / uncured
(Taste of chlorophyl (burning hay) = barely cured, or uncured buds )
8. Properly trimmed/manicured = more thc per weight ( buds more potent than leafs)
9. Trichrome density / resinousness = relative to potency
9. smell, taste, looks, strain, grower's skill&methods = obvious indicators of potency
Nugs overall color rarely has anything to do with quality, ive had brownish/blackish weed that was 100x better than those pure-white beasters (commercial WW? its everywhere)

To be honest, I would MUCH rather buy large weight if it is incredibly dry, crumbly by the finger... I can add my own clean moisture to it, and in the proper amounts, and the drier it is, essentially, the more you get.

I agree, but only if buying a QP at least, because loosing a gram in an oz due to moisture is not a big price to pay for good properly prepared product. And i would hate to fuck around with moisturizing smaller ammounts with anything but fresh pot leafs. Also, if the shit was overdried and manhandled in transportation or whatever, rebagged bunch of times, it probably lost a portion of precious glands :) dry = brittle. But yea if buying a lb of fire i would rather have it overly dry so then i can "cut it" with some moisture :D

Re: Identifying good weed
I had bud once that looked like the Good one.
Purple Kush was BANGING.
I highly suggest the citrus flavors - right now I have some Lemon Hash Plant and I've never been so fucked up.

I've had the joy to possess Purple Kush a few times over here in the UK - truly beautiful smoke. Very dark and dank, heavy feel to the high. Very monged and psychedelic, so fucking tasty too :)
I personally am a fiend for Blue Cheese strains, anything with a slightly cheesy yet pungent smell.
Perfect buds for me - Dense nugs, bone dry, crystal covered, sweet yet pungent odor, strong aftertaste, heavy head stone.

Re: Identifying good weed
I usually go by first apperance/feel, then smell.
Alot of the shit that goes around here is good, regardless of color. Ive had some shit that was a browner color and that stuff smoked like a champ. Scent is really important to tell, cause alot of the ditch weed/garbage has barely any scent or a shit type scent whilst the good stuff around here has a potent smell that if you left a bag open in a room id scent the room of weed.. T
THats the stuff..hostess!!

Re: Identifying good weed
I usually base the quality of weed on color, stickyness, and aroma.
I don't buy anything that isn't a dark green color, I stay away from anything brown, or light green. If you can grind the weed in a cheap grinder I usually wont buy it, most of the weed I buy you have to grind by hand because you wont be able to turn the grinder. If it doesn't smell a lot I wont buy it, most of the weed I buy has a fruity/pine aroma to it.

Unless you live in England, where the sparklyness is most likely to be sand/silica/some other adulterant
God I hate people who do that. Luckily it's not so bad now, but in the summer when it was fairly dry that was all there was around here, aint had it in a good few months though.
