a small problem
Now, my friend, his girlfriend seems to live on self made drama. When she is happy, she will think up things to make it harder for him, things he does not have time to deal with. When i talk to her, she makes him out as if he is deep, but he is far from it. he isnt shallow, but he is far form a complicated person.
now the question, he obviously wants to stay with her, but does not know how to correct her odd behavior. any suggestions?

Baseball bat to the dome?
Assertivity is the only thing that will work. He needs to sit her down and tell her what's up and what he wants/needs w/o sounding like a pussy, but a man.
Wait, why are you putting effort into seaking out advice for your friend?

Re: a small problem
Usually people are the way they are, and it's really hard to change someone when they've been doing something or acting a certain way their whole lives.
The best way to influence people is through negative and positive reinforcement. When she starts manufacturing bullshit problems he should say "listen, I don't want to listen to this crap right now, I'm gonna go chill, and you can come talk to me when you can be sane." If he cuts off the flow of attention she's gunning for, she'll become aware that that type of behavior doesn't benefit her. He should also reinforce 'good' behavior. When they get along for a period of time without her coming up with crazy nonsense, he should say something like "I'm really glad we've been getting along so well lately and you haven't come up with anything to get mad at me for," and be all lovey and stuff. She'll begin to associate a less dramatic environment with a good feeling, and hopefully cut it out.
Or she's just a crazy bitch and there's nothing he can do. Which is most probably.

Re: a small problem
The small problem is the dudes tiny dick. LuL.
But, srsly....
No, bitches like that are usually impossible to fix. Especially because they will be all like "ok, ok i know im crazy, blah, blah, ill change for YOU, blah, blah, promise *sucks your cockand you put it in her butt*, but THEN she just reverts to her same old ways.
