Gaining Back A Foothold
I figured this was the best place to relate this question, since it is based on relationships, although not of a sexual nature.
Before I moved to university, there was a kid I got along with pretty well. We'd hang out, we had our differences, but we shared a lot in common at the same time. I guess you could say we were mates, although not of the variety you'd look at and go, man, I wish I had mates like that. During the two years before I moved to university, I was experiencing a long spiral of depression, and this compounded with a superiority and cling complex I formed as a result of a physical disability (where I will frequently belittle others without intent, but do everything for a friend, even if they don't want me to - I have broken myself mainly of this habit) - at least, I figure it was this, lead him to email me and explain that he no longer wanted to be around me, exchanged the pleasantries, 'you're a great guy and all'. I guess it was because of my destructive emotional state at the time that I let myself be blinded to my selfish behaviour, but to this date I've tried to contact him on more than one occasion, only to be ignored and have him walk away from me. I was foolish, childish and ignorant, but I'd like to make amends.
What should I do? How can I approach him in a fashion where he'll listen, maybe understand that it wasn't vindictiveness on my behalf that caused my actions, but something that runs much deeper through my subconscious? Even if I can't have him back as a good friend, can I rectify this so we are at least on speaking terms? It's been eating at me lately. So thus I ask; TOTSE - help me repair an old relationship now I'm back from University (after failing - got far too drunk for class). He used to mean a fair bit to me. And I don't think I'm ready to let that fall away completely.

Re: Gaining Back A Foothold
He was 'mean' to you? Why would you want him back as a friend? There's friendly jibes, then there's being 'mean'..which was he?
I'm not sure.. if I'd been cast away by someone I thought was a friend I wouldnt be too keen on getting back into contact with them. This guys response, should you decide to say hi may well be to tell you to go fuck yourself.
Or, he may reciprocate your friendliness. Either way.. I guess it's something you have to try?

He meant a lot to me, not 'he was mean to me'. Anyway, I decided to send an altered version of the original post to him, third person style, and hopefully I'll receive a reply, or at least get acknowledgment that he received my email. I'll keep you updated.

You're a fucking idiot.
Sex and affection is not only about what bitch you want to fuck, it's about all forms of relationships, friendships, family, love, and sex. Just because alot of the threads here seem to be about fucking doesent mean that's all the forum is about.

Re: Gaining Back A Foothold
Might not be worth it, if you start with him again, you may fall into old habbits. So think carefully.
