Does getting drunk every night to get to sleep easier classify you as an alcoholic?
I never drink during the day, unless I'm at a mates house.

I drank almost every night for a number of months. Alot of people would classify that as alcoholic and I don't really disagree. I'm cutting back now and trying to keep my drinking mostly to a few nights of the week (mainly thursday, friday, saturday). Two days sober so far!

Yes. See the keyword is 'every' ...if you find yourself habitually drinking every night, you are more than likely an alcoholic. Depending on how long you've held this routine the worse you situation may be.

The real test is to break the habit and see how you react.

true that, if you can't fall asleep without alcohol, you might have a small problem that doesn't really need "fixing", if you notice yourself drinking more and more each night to get to sleep, then you might want to consider breaking out of that habit
