Some friends and I were watching Pulp Fiction. In the movie, the character Mia Wallace, played by Uma Thurman, mistakenly snorted Heronie assuming it was cocaine. Almost instantly she starts to bleed from the nose, she then passes out or has a seizure, this is what I assume because it pans to a different character.

I was wondering what makes it so bad to snort heroine and why the reaction was so quick? Can any of you shed some knowledge.

it wasnt that she snorted it. the problem was that she had a huge coke tolerance so she did a fat line of heroin and overdosed.

Ah ok. Well what would happen if she wasn't already fucked up from the cocaine? Or if someone with a high heroine tolerance snorted heroine? Would they still get a regular high?

Mixing coke and heroin is a pretty dangerous combination, doing both together in excess is basically suicide because obviously upper+downer=fuckedupness especially with your heart.

And people snort heroin all the time. You don't have to shoot it, that's a whole different ballgame.

"Dangerous" was an adjective describing "combination" which in this context means "drug combination." Is heroin+coke not a dangerous drug combination?

It had nothing to do with already being fucked up on coke, it had to do with her being a coke head, and being used to snorting huge lines of white powder. As you know, she assumed the heroin was coke, and snorted a big fat line of it, as she normally would with coke. But it was heroin. And because she had no tolerance to heroin, she had way too much, and nearly died.

Snorting heroin (not heroine) will not simply just kill you. Snorting big fat lines with no tolerance just might.

Anyway, Obbe is absolutely right. In my topic, though, I was asking why her nose was bleeding so profusely and why she collapsed so suddenly. Most of us concluded that this scene was mostly made for 'artistic' reasons, more than anything else, so don't take it too seriously.

Speedballs (or shooting coke period) aren't recommended because it numbs the area around the place you shoot, so if you seriously fuck up needle placement / plunger depression you won't be as able to feel it.

As well as this, if you watch the scene where he's buying it, the dealer has 3 kinds. John Travolta's character ends up buying the most expensive stuff, which according to the dealer was ultra pure. That combined with the fact she did a huge line of it might help explain it.
