My Father will never learn.
A year ago my dad got in an accident for DUI, they took his licence for a year i think.
Well My little sister just called me, and told us, that my dad got in an accident last night, at 3 in the morning. He was drinking and driving again.
Apparently he had some women on his lap and he hit 2 poles and the median strip. He just drove it back to his house, so no cops were involved.
My dad will never fucking learn will he? This man is 44 years old, and still hasn't learned anything.
I really wish I could help him, but he just doesn't give a shit anymore. All he cares about is drinking and getting laid, by various disease infested women around this town.
Christ almighty.
Sorry just had to vent, you can comment on this if you want.

Re: My Father will never learn.
Make him choose between family and drunk driving.
Whenever he talks to you, walk away.
Eventually he will ask why you are walking away while he talks, and tell him it is because of his bad habit.
He will have to decide between communicating with his family and drunk driving.

Re: My Father will never learn.
Two years ago (my dad was like 46) he wrecked his 1977 vette into a concrete slab that a pumping unit was sitting on (the slab was sticking a few feet out of the ground). Anyway, he flipped a few times, fell out of the roof (car had t-tops, t-tops flew off). The car was on fire, it was around 2 am, he was laying beside it. He laid there for an hour or so before this one guy that's a known thief and my dad didn't like him much showed up, pulled him out, and called an ambulance. He spent 3 weeks in ICU with 4th degree burns covering half his torso and one of his arms, and a broken neck. They later moved him to the burn unit after he got skin grafts put on his burns. Stayed there 2 months. Never worked on his neck. He's back working now (he's a pipefitter/welder) and I guess he's doing alright. He CONSTANTLY complains about his neck. The burns aren't really hurting him I guess.
Funny thing is, he wasn't drunk. He was just tired.

honestly I think he will choose beer over his family,
My dad can be cool, whenever I go to his house he always offers me a beer, One time I was going to fight this guy, I told my dad he told me to come and get him when It went down. Well when it did go down, I went to see my dad after it happend and he told me to get out of his face that it was my fault and he didn't want to here it.
I'm scared for my dad, because the doctors said he only has a few years left. And usually once a month or so he will call me in the middle of the night crying to me. Telling me how much he loves me and that he wants to kill himself. So I wake up or drop what I'm doing and I take him to the hospital. only for him to leave the hospital a few hours later and refuse the help.
I only do it because one of these times he is going to do it for real. When my parents first seperated, My dad put a loaded 9mm to his head in front of me and was going to blow his brains out. My mom came running and took it from him, only because she knows I care about my dad.
This shit is getting old.

There's no such thing as a 4th degree burn. You fail at telling stories.

The doctors told me it was 4th degree. The burns were so fucking deep that I see clearly through what little skin he has on his burn half his whole ribcage. So Mr Wiseass, so some fucking respect.

Re: My Father will never learn.
After a quick google search, it would seem that there is such a thing as a 4th degree burn, according to some doctors. Apparently there is some disagreement in the medical community as to whether or not 3rd degree should be the most severe classification.
Last time I had a discussion over this topic, a few months ago, both a med student and my encyclopedia agreed that 3rd was as high as it goes, so that was the frame of reference I used.
I am officially apologizing for assuming that you were exaggerating for dramatic effect.

Sorry mate, but your dad is screwed. Best thing you can do is get emotionally detached from him.

Re: My Father will never learn.
Hey man, i'm sorry but it sort of seems like your dad is a bit of a lost cause. I understand you really care about him and all that, but if he doesn't learn from lessons in the past about drunk driving, and you even said yourself that he would choose the booze over family, then there really isn't much you can do to help your dad.
I know it sucks, but these things happen. It might end up being all good, your dad never gets hurt and you all live happily ever after... then again its quite likely that it won't end up like that
once again, sorry
