i've been with this girl since high school, in college now, and we both go to the same college and currently live in the same dorm building. being so close, we kind of inhibited ourselves from making friends, since we spent so much time together. a couple days ago she tells me she wants to be with me, she loves me, she knows she'll never find anyone better than me, but we need to take a break. we need to take time to get our own friends, to get things to do when we are not together. she said she did not want to be with anyone else during this break.

i've seen and talked to her occasionally since, but no where near the level before. she used to stay the night a lot, and we'd always eat together, etc.

anyway, what she said makes sense to me, and i can't really disagree. i love her too, but there were times that i wished i could go "bond" with guys from my floor, but i knew i couldn't because then what would she do and how much of an asshole would i be telling her to leave. but now i feel lost. it's the middle of the year. friendships have been made. people already have housing plans for next year. the only thing i can do is live in the dorms again with a random roommate. i don't know how to just suddenly meet people now. i practically know no one. i would have no problem talking to people in my classes, but i have NO IDEA what to say beyond "hi, i'm whocares123." my mind is a blank. a peaceful blank at times, but still, a blank.

Cant you just make friends while dating her? I mean wtf you dont have to spend every second with her. And You could make friends together, like mutual friends. But if not, just start chilling with people, run around the campus doing crazy shit, drink some alcohol. Its college not middle school man.

Find a guy that looks like a pothead, and ask him if he knows where you could score some weed. You've instantly been inducted into a new social network. Problem solved.

I agree; hell, go find some random person and ask if he knows a good place to get drunk. You'll find you've been instantly inducted into a much larger social group.
