Finally quitting...
Oxycontin, hydrocodone, morphine, heroin, and methadone have ruled my life for too long. I've stolen, lied, cheated, hurt people, stuck numerous needles in my arm, and worst of all hurt myself in order to get high. I've tapered my dose down gradually and today I had a bad relapse with dosages I used to be taking. I almost broke down crying I felt so shitty and miserable. I'm not going to have very bad physical withdrawals thank god but the psychological aspect is still there.
I have support from everyone, including my dealer. She agreed not to give me anymore, and she could tell how miserable I am.
I used to be a fairly ripped guy. My friend used to call me Mr Universe (still am muscular), extremely intelligent, and generally a likeable fellow. I had a prolonged muscle spasm in my upper back from weightlifting that lasted months. Instead of my douchebag doctor giving me flexeril, he just told me to take some ibuprofen. That didn't work and my friend told me he could get oxycontin easily. I started on that and loved it more than anything. My parents pay for my insurance, etc and I was working a job getting $177- $230 a week just for the pills. I started dealing them to support my habit, and I was a shady motherfucker to be around.
My best friend and I both got hooked and we agreed to quit together. Tonight I'm going to go start hitting the weights again which is something I haven't done in a very long time. I have a huge variety of hobbies and I'm getting a membership to Gold's Gym so I'll keep plenty busy. I have klonopin so I can sleep and get rid of anxiety.
Anyone have any tips to successful quitting? I have a pretty bad reputation for it and one of my nicknames is OC from people I've partied with. Someone mentioned it to me today and I got very angry with them. I don't know how I'm going to clean that up.
My goals are to learn how to be a performing musician without drugs as a crutch, manage my anxiety, and build back all that damn muscle I lost.
Thanks totse, I hope your supportive.

Re: Finally quitting...
Fuck, I knew I'd get a response like that. I think I've been posting on this board for 2-3 years now, I don't know why I even bothered.
:edit: I just checked, I registered in '04. Dayum.

Re: Finally quitting...
Good get off that shit, do you smoke weed? Maybe it'll help sort of fill the void, but if you're going 100% straight get ripped again, that'll be badass.

Re: Finally quitting...
Good job bro. I'm in the throes of addiction and habituation at the moment. I just pushed off a huge shot of meth and im frackin geetered to the max. I love hearing stories of personal struggle, sacrifice and the resulting freedom of mind and body that ensues.
I'm very happy for you, and I hope one day that I have the strength to go through with sobriety once again.
I too used to be a different person, although the light is still on in his room, the doors are all locked and he hasnt come out in quite some time.
Good action, bro. Keep it up.
Also, don't let a former nickname make you angry and lash out at someone, that should just brush off your skin.
Let the dude know that you dont want him to call you OC anymore, but dont be so harsh yaknow? he doesnt know any better if he just saw you after a long absence.

Re: Finally quitting...
i would honestly say use marijuana for recreational purposes. helps keep ya away from needles. definately be aware that you can/will feel shitty physically.
just fucking think about things.
