what do seeds (in weed) mean?
is it just that seeds weigh a bunch and you cant smoke them?
or is it that the presence of seeds signify poor quality?
why do people get pissed when they find seeds in their weed?

lol stag - buy some seeds. grow them right. and seeds mean there was a mail or a herme in the mix... which means the female plants were pollinated and stopped producing thc, thus .... shitty weed

This occurs in rare cases, however.
Seeds in yo weed mean your bud was pollinated by the male pot plant. Bud is the flower. Flower + Pollen = seeds. Bud that is not pollinated can devote more resources toward flower growth (bigger buds, more resin, etc) instead of toward seed production.
In short, seeds in yo weed mean the weed isn't at it's highest level of quality.
Would you rather smash Nicole Richie pregnant or not pregnant? It's kinda like that. ;)

Indicator of poor quality, they weigh more, and you have to mess with them.

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
If there's only a few seeds, it's just as potent as the less mature buds without..
If when removing the stem, a mass of seeds falls out then that shit is old and weak as fuck.
Though this say's nothing for how potent the seeds will be.
I'm also pretty fucking certain that a male doesn't have to be present to get seeds from your females. :)

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
It's true that it somewhat indicates potency in many cases. The higher quality bud you get the less (and often larger) the seeds are.

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
Yes, seeds are generally regarded as a bad thing when found in weed, because it often means it’s poor quality. I know people who get very excited to see seeds in their chronic but, if I'm not mistaken that just means it was a hermaphrodite plant. eXo5: You'd be surprised. Many times brick weed started off as a great strain. The problem is, not removing the males’ means you end up with seeds. The plants aren't harvested at peak times, then they aren't cured properly (giving them a harsh taste), THEN they are harshly bagged and transported knocking off what little THC they had left, AND it's usually left around for long periods of time waiting to be sold making it incredibly dry. I know plenty of people who have grown dirt weed seeds and ended up with wonderful plants, even ones with purple leaves/nugs.
EDIT: Oh, also don't smoke seeds. They are no good for you and contain VERY little to no THC. Not to mention they usually pop and blow your bowl out of the pipe. I've heard some people refer to them as hippy grenades.

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
I have bought weed from tons of different people and I have only seen seeds ONE time. I normally buy middies but even the shittiest weed in town is seed free.
Im in Canada, so most weed is grown indoors here, and the males can be easily killed. In warmer places weed farmers just let the shit grown naturally and thats how seeds get in weed down south.
So if your in warm climate that might be the reason for your seedy weedy. I would only buy seedy bud if it was crazy cheap (then I would make hash).

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
the larger the seed, the more potent the strain. that only applies to bud with seeds...
i don't know if its like this in the rest of the world, but in this area there is a somewhat decent price cut for seeds. but not all bud sold at the street level is "seedless" buds, but a good majority of it is bud where the person who bought the weight [be it QP or zip] picked out the seeds before packing his bags. the way you can tell this, is your pot never has big buds...

Any weed i buy that's seeded i buy in Os because it's cheap and because the seeds are a hassle to take out and the jew that gets that for me is a jew so i rarely buy it.
Anything i can buy in 8ths or less has had 1 seed in it ever and it wasn't developed

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
It means that whoever grew your weed has a field so fucking big they couldn't bother going through it and killing the male plants who sex your weed.

No hermaphrodite plants are fucking disgusting. You can't harvest them because the buds are pretty useless. I've heard that the seeds from them are generally females though.
Weed not cured properly not only gives them a harsher taste, but makes it less potent.
Purple leave/nugs doesn't make it more potent.
Seeds contain no THC at all. Unless theres some trichromes caked onto them from breaking up the bud.
Eat the seeds, they are healthy to eat.

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
If it's chronic/kind bud/the beasters/whatever you call good weed, it shouldn't have any seeds in it. That means it was a hermaphrodite, or they don't know what the fuck they're doing when it comes to growing. If it's a hermy, you should get a discount, as it won't be as good as a female. And if they don't know what they're doing, then it's not really good weed; and you should definitely get a discount.
EDIT: Actually, yes you CAN harvest the buds from a hermaphrodite plant. They aren't they much different than any other buds. However, the usually have a small amount of seeds. I don't know anything about your comment on female seeds coming from hermy plants. I think you could be confused... You see, generally feminized seeds have a fairly high (much higher than normal) chance of being hermaphrodites. It's possible that improper curing will make it less potent... And, it's best assumed that any pot plant that ends up brightly colored is a good strain, which was my point. I don't believe I ever made the comment that purple = potent. And yes, the seeds are high in protein and fatty oils. It's said the Gandhi lived off of one hemp seed a week.

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
The best weed I've ever smoked was very lightly seeded. In the oz that I smoked to myself I got maybe five seeds. I've also had kinda shitty weed that was totally seedless. Some strains have a natural tendency to go hermaphroditic in the tail end of their budding cycle. Lightly seeded bud has no potency difference than seed free bud I've noticed...

It means the plants have been sexed. The nutrients and energy that went to building the seeds while the plant was budding could have been put towards THC production. So usually if it has seeds it is going to produce as much THC. People get pissed if your buying sensimilla(translates to :no seeds) and you get seeds.

I am growing three weed seeds in my room, the plants are only 1 centimeter tall so far. However my parents also live here so I have a question
If say it gets to be about 6 inches tall or so, will the leaves on the plant have any THC at all?

If the cops catch you, they COULD take their house MAYBE. But, that doesn't mean they will for sure. Mostly only if they claim they think the house was obtained with illegally gotten money, or if they want to be asses.

Re: what do seeds (in weed) mean?
Reading this thread made me realize how many people blaze but are either mad uninformed, or wrongly educated.
Seeds just mean it wasn't manicured to the fullest. The dealer didn't let it "be all that it could be" so to speak. Three weeks or a month ago I took three hits off a blunt of this blue dragon, and i was passing out. I don't sleep when i blaze though, so this was a new level for me. It was some of the best herb that I've ever smoked. I've smoked many a strain as well. If you read the other threads I posted in, we have a caregiver that brings three different strains once a week. We also have all the other bud that seems to run within the veins of my pad.........Anyhoo. My homie picked up an eighth for $60. That's club prices. Outrageous, I know. Well, the sack had like 7 or 8 seeds in it, (which are currently a half inch out of the soil right now :)). So no, seeds don't mean shitty buds. It just means they weren't picked out when your homie was bagging up his shit.

Wow, you're stupid. Manicuring weed has nothing to do with the seed count. It's been stated mad times in this thread that seeds are just a product of pollination. And I most definitely wouldn't want some dumbass dealer picking apart my buds trying to take out seeds, if there were seeds.
A couple of seeds aren't going to significantly change the potency of the buds. I've found a couple of seeds in some headies that I had before. It was definitely some good ass weed too.

So that weed you got with 6-7 seeds could have been more potent if they didint sex it. but if you want to mix or reproduce that strain then you have to sex it. The other option would be to clone it(take cuttings) let the cuttings of the 2 different strains grow and then sex them.
It does mean that the energy and nutrients that went into forming and growing seeds could have been used in thc production.

Nah. Clones are out of the question. Dude we picked up from is just some random, hence the price jump from normal prices. One of the huge dealers around here is gonna have my roommate do some electrical work for him in his attic or some shit and he's gonna pay him as well as give him 10 clones or so.

But my point is, sensimilla (whichtranslates to: no seeds) is known for its potency because it is just straght unsexed females. The unsexed females produce more THC because they do not have to put so much work into producing seeds. It is not just weed with the seeds picked or "manicured," out. So I guess you are the one that is misinformed.
