Default Xubuntu (64-bit) + Compiz Fusion + Emerald

Alright so, ive tried getting on IRC for live help, but im having some trouble with that, so ill ask on that later....

But the problem is, im going to finally ditch winblows and the Xubuntu (64-bit) live cd for a full blown installation (for a half harddrive partition...about 80 GB) and i was wondering, when i get it all setup, how would i install Compiz Fusion + Emerald on it? I tried google, that didnt help so much...all i know is that i need to use a special version of CF/Emerald for 64 bit users...i would like to use a GUI style installation, but if the shell style installation is required, well just try to include all the commands.

**Ok so i read that people with ATI video cards have a problem, well unfortunately i have one, so i need to install Compiz on Xubutnu 7.10 (latest) 64-bit and with an ATI Card....google isnt helping much! Says i need AIGLX drivers or something...**

you really only need Xubuntu if you have low specd hardware, but if you want to run compiz fusion you cant have low specd hardware

go with Ubuntu 64bit and compiz fusion is standard

Try the Restricted Driver Manager. It's in System>Administration>Restricted Driver Manager. If that doesn't work, you're pretty much SOL.

You should see a box saying "ATI Graphics Drivers" or something like that. Tick the box.

If that fails you, there is a program called Envy which will download and install ATI/Nvidia drivers for you.

Only if you have atis newer than r300. Ati x550 and instant recognition by open source 3d accelerationon. Nevermind that Compiz is a piece of stupid eye candy. Just use their wizard to install ati's drivers.

DON'T USE ENVY. IT IS UNSUPPORTED AND WILL PROBABLY SCREW UP YOUR SYSTEM. USE SUPPORTED MEANS TO INSTALL SOFTWARE people.
