yeah they are fairly expensive, but its pretty worth it due to selection, convenience, and some of the best bud there is.
there is the "discount" ones, which are cheaper and still have dank ass herb, but its not the same quality.

They're called dispensaries. I live in San Diego and theres numerous spots all over the county, even though they were outlawed in this county in '06. I'm in the process of getting my card, but my roommate has his so I know the whole process.

Theres a doctor you can go see for $125 I believe and he asks you why you need to be able to legally smoke bud. Just tell him you have migraines, insomnia, back pain, etc. etc. It helps you if you bring some sort of medical record though. After some paperwork, you're set. You're given a card with your picture, DOB, etc. etc. on it with the actual law printed on the back. Its a same day thing though, no waiting for bullshit in the mail to come.

We have a delivery guy (or caregiver if you want to be all proper) that drops whatever we need off at our house. Like in half baked with that gay dude on the bike, except he chills for a minute, lets us sample his current product (he smokes us out on like an eighth every time at no cost to us). He also brings all kinds of THC goodies. Peanut butter cups, chocolate bars, cooking oil, treats for the dog, etc. etc. as well as hash on occasion. Bars are 10 each, but if you eat one, you're fucking blitzed. The dog ate two of the treats he made and puked then passed out. Our dude sells tree to us cheaper than in the dispensaries, but its not hook up prices really. $55 for 1/8, $100 for 1/4, $180-190 for a half, etc. etc.

If you're actually going into the place to buy, it's ridiculously overpriced. $60-70 for an 1/8........mad pricey. It's grade A bud though. If you have the means to do this, by all means go for it. If you don't want to put that kind of paper down on bud, just stick to picking up from whoever you usually get from. The last dispensary that my roommate went to, it was hidden inside an apartment. He had to go on a serious mission to actually get to the place. Through back alleys, up fire escapes, inside random buildings, etc. etc.

The outlawing of the businesses has raised the prices as well, so that's an issue. I'm not getting ripped off, its just how it is. I don't pay those prices unless theres a sudden surplus of money in my possession that I can spend on whatever.

My buddy just had 6 eighths of shit sent up from his friend in cali with a card..... 4 of them were apparently the BEST strain, cost 100$ something (in the club itself) and were labeled as having 22-27% THC content..... which is absurd, I didn't buy it at first... since that is about as high THC as they have managed to get out of a plant, but then 8 of us smoked a .8 blunt and 2 kids got psychosis even....
