I'm trying to get a girlfriend and this looks like the last resort.
I hate dancing, I hate rap music, and I hate preppy white people acting black. But I have no other choice. I've tried craigslist, but only got fat ugly girls, all of which stood me up anyway. They did'nt really stand me up, but they just stopped calling and responding to emails and did'nt even get the chance to meet them. Then I tried asking random girls at a store and every single one had a boyfriend. This took alot of guts and can't do that anymore because it hurts like hell inside. Even the fat slobs have boyfriends.

So anyway, i've never been in a nightclub and don't know how it works. Do alot of single girls go there? Should I just wait at the bar, look for a pretty girl on the dancefloor, introduce myself then ask her to dance? Then after the song is over I ask her if she wants a drink and then have a chat with her at the bar? Does this sound right? I'm very antisocial and don't really know how people do this stuff.

You don't go to clubs to get a girlfriend; you go to clubs to find a one-night stand. If your one-night stand results in a relationship, something went wrong with your quest.

However, because of his general tone, the OP almost certainly is an asshole. So long as you are in college, which it sounds like you are, just be observant of any and all girls that might show any interest in you, and take it from there.

You won't find a girlfriend in a night club, believe me, I've tried many many times.

You will be more likely to find a girlfriend in a bar/pub. You can do a lot more talking and it's not just a one night stand business.

You get a girlfriend in life though. I met mine on a snowboard trip. We have that in common, we both box (she kickboxes), she models, works in a building, etc. If I modeled, I could meet her through that. If I worked in her office, through that. She even went to a class I was in, but we never saw each other.

Hey man, you could approach a woman and introduch yourself as being Waffle Stomper which is a pretty cool name..Maybe that would break the the ice....I dont have much advice about bars these days but when i was there I wore a great looking lightweight jacket,jeans that fit me well and snakeskin boots....I always drank at least a half pint of whisky before walked through the door so Iwould be more comfortable with the enviroment as I am not a very social...I just sat at the bar and ordered a drink being cool...Sometimes women would seek me and other times it was the other way ...I met a lot of girlfriends at bars but the only problem is that they wanted to go back and I did not.....The truth is that a bar may be a good place to pick up a piece of ass but insofar as a long term relationship is concerned I doubt if that will work...

Thanks. That was pretty helpful. I don't go to college so it's alot harder to meet girls. Are there any times that are bad for approaching a girl, like if she's busy reading a book or chatting with her friends? Would that be rude?

Not if you introduce yourself as being more fun than a book or her friends.

Come in high energy and make it seem like you're the catch. Start talking about something completely random. If she's reading a book you know something about, say something like "You know, I wrote a critical review of "BOOK" last year. I thought the author did "so and so". What do you think?"

Now not only have you entered the conversation as a high value guy, you haven't triggered her anti-pickup shield so she'll talk to you for a while because she doesn't know your motive is to pick her up.

Thing is, chances that she will come out of nowhere if your contact with girls is very limited are pretty slim.

What you need to do is increase your exposure, and thus increase your chances of meeting a girl you actually like.

I've met 2 of my long relationships and quite a few of my short ones out at clubs, don't listen to the people that say everyone there's just up for a one night stand, some of us go there to drink, dance, listen to music and spend time with our friends.

You must be from England or something because things like talking about books and taking a girl out for breakfast would seem quite unusual where i'm from. I have seriously never heard of guys doing that.

He means out to breakfast after going to a club. If I go to my favorite club, I am usually there till about 5am, so, breakfast is always an option.

No. This is a problem I had/have to overcome. People are nice to you generally, if you talk to them. Occasionally you get a bitch or someone who's had a bad day/ not in the mood etc, but 90% will be nice at least.

Yeah, this. If you take her to another bar or club after the one you've been at, it will seem to be a mini-date and it will bridge closeness (for want of a better word).
