Default Is melatonin worth buying?

Does melatonin really intensify weed so much that it would justify spending almost 15 dollars? 15 dollars isn't much but I don't have much after xmas and I'd rather just keep it for a bottle or somethin but I've been wanting to give melatonin a try. I tried findin this one old thread but all I get back is threads asking people what to take to go to sleep. Someone please tell me if it is worth it. and if it is how much should I take and how long before I smoke?

I used to take melatonin along with a bowl to help me go to sleep. There seems to be some synergy but not very much. I would save your money.

you can get 120 x 3mg for <5$, and that's more than you'll ever need.

it's my understanding that melatonin doesn't cross the BBB, so theoretically it shouldn't have any dopaminergic effects. the body of experiential data says otherwise, that it does help with sleep and intensify dreams and such, but i have no personal experience or interest.

Smoking weed makes your brain produce like 2000% more melatonin then normal. I would imagine smoking copious amount of ganja over a long period of time would have some detrimental effect on your brains regular melatonin-producing-capabilities.
I dunno.

But, if thats true, then then I would suppose taking a supplement would help your sleep cycles out while your brain readjusts to the lack of ganja.

Dude I would just steal it, it doesn't intensify weed really but a few hits and some melatonin at night works wonders, if you're an insomniac like me..... but you gotta go to sleep right after you chief, or else you'll feel kind of weird in bed.

http://tinyurl.com/yuo9mt

"There is a daily rhythm in the production of the pineal hormone melatonin in all mammalian species. Production is stimulated by darkness and inhibited by light. This provides a signal reflecting the changing environmental lighting cycle. In seasonally breeding mammals that use changes in the photoperiod to time their reproductive cycles, temporal signals to the reproductive system are controlled by the daily rhythm in melatonin production."

Considering what Obbe just said (and how im interpreting it; hold on you'll love my next question), and if you weren't an insomniac before you drugz, the reason you can't sleep at night is your inability to produce melatonin....

maybe. lawl.

What kind of 'detrimental' effects? Do you mean an inability to produce melatonin?

lol I left this open and forgot about it and came back 3 hours later, during which time I decided not to give a fuck about melatonin.

i would definitely recommend melatonin it works very well.

i didnt notice any difference, no difference with rozerem either. then again neither of those make me even a tiny bit drowsy so i guess for someone that can feel drowsy off the shit they might notice something interesting. dont waste ur money tho

edit: buy real drugs instead of sleep hormones, somethin like a benzo or opiate would be ideal, then you hav something to really add to the high of the weed

It makes your dreams extremely vivid... even in the next day I feel drowsy and nap alot, having equally or more fucked up dreams than in the night. One time I had a DMT-like experience where this alien umbrella like tentacle thing slid down my throat to investigate my larynx, but I was oddly ok with this and let it happen, just like it was a natural thing. I often dream of futuristic situations and vast city-like landscapes, inhabited by the archetypes of my waking life...

As an insomniac it helps alot, as well as provides a kind of psychedelic afterglow during the day. I think this effect is partly due to my dream/sleep cycles being so wreaked by cannabis that having them back at a normal or slightly increased rate is felt as being a novel new thing. Between Omega-3 supplements and Melatonin I feel like any "brain damage" I may have suffered has now dissapeared, I feel very sharp and creative. You may not feel an effect from it if you demand to be seriously fucked up from every pill you take, but if your into exploring even the most subtle mindstates you will probably find it rewarding.

Melatonin is worth it.
It really enhances a 5-meo experience.
You could, also, try melatonin with a MAOI for a more lucid effect.

Melatonin is certainly worth it if you're using it for legitimate purposes. But don't try to abuse it, or to try to increase a weed high... That's just silly... Not to mention you're going to throw your bodies balance all off wack, then you're going to have problems. OR one other possible option is buying it as a precursor for making other powerful drugs, which CAN be fun to abuse. But that's all I'm going to say on that subject because if you guys didn't already know about that, you probably wouldn't be able to do the reactions anyway.

Dont take it during the day. Some study showed that night workers had higher levels of melatonin, and in turn had a much higher rate of (I think it was skin?) cancer than people on a regular work schedule.
Not to mention its completely pointless.
