The right kind of present depends on certain factors. Here are some ideas:

1) Jewelry. All women love jewelry. It's in their genes to desire extremely overpriced useless pieces of metal and rocks welded together. Unfortunately I'm not sure what your price range is, but if you go around to all of the jewelry shops in town and haggle with the employees, you can usually find something nice for a "low" price. But if she has a boyfriend (just speculating), then jewelry is a no-no. Giving jewelry to a girl who has a boyfriend can lead to disaster. (aka getting the shit beat out of you, or maybe the jewelry he gets her is better than the one you get her, etc.)

2) Music. If you can't get your hands on some jewelry, music is a good alternative. The only disadvantage to this would be if she's not really in to music.

3) Dinner. Instead of getting her a physical gift, taking her out to dinner may be quite nice. Girls love being taken out to dinner to be a nice restaurant and being able to pick whatever they want off the menu without the feeling that they're spending too much. It could even be a restaurant where you can dress nicely to it, since many girls like to dress up fancy. If done successfully, unlike some lame physical gift, you'll be giving her a memory that she won't forget for a very long time. The only problem may be that the more fancy you go, the more expensive; which could mean that it would equal the cost of some piece of jewelry or exceede it. But in my opinion, if you're going to spend a lot of money, you might as well spend it on something useful and fun like dinner rather than just some transleuscent rocks on a gold string.

4) Take her to a play. Don't take her to one that sucks, obviously. Just make sure that she likes stage performances. Some people don't; I'm one of those people.


Now my last suggestion would be to only do any of these things if you want to persue a relationship with this girl. If you aren't, then get her something for cheap from the 99 cent store.
