I know it's sad and unfortunate, but does anyone here shield their smoking socially? I have found that I don't put it out in the open since I'm more devoted to schoolwork than the average smoker. I really only have one friend who is on the same acedemic level as I am who smokes weed, and most of my other long-time friends still look down upon it. It's really a shame that we live in a world where people are automatically labeled as an unmotivated burnout just because they smoke a little weed. The majority of the population would have no problem with it whatsoever if they weren't so damn mis-informed. Fuck you American education systems!

I dont really advertise it as I think its annoying when people do that...I also find it annoying when you get done smoking with someone and they make you promise not to tell anyone. Its not like Im gonna run around telling everyone I know I smoked with so-and-so.

yeah i dont make smoking weed like some big announcement b/c 9 times out of 10 people who do that are fucking pussies with no real sense of self. but yeah, i guess there's nothing wrong with being quiet about pot, but on the other hand a lot of people who most vocally criticize it really have no idea what they are talking about.

i was talking about this with my step sister today.. and she was going on about how weed makes you dumb... she knows i smoke, and i still make higher grades than most of my class without even trying... i have an enormous amount of potential school just bores the fuck out of me...

its not that weed makes you dumb, it makes you can make you lazy, and being lazy can lead to a person not putting any effort into things, which makes people consider them dumb.... but for those of us who dont fall into the typical stoner stereotype, most of us manage to not be complete degenerates as far as society is concerned...

I agree weed makes me anything but dumb. However I do believe some people who smoke a lot of weed can subconsciously make themselves dumb or slow, because they think of themselves as a stoner and thus display characteristics of a typical one. Not me. :)

I'm in HS, so really marijuanna use is pretty much accepted by every. Opiate use on the other hand is something I'd like to keep low-key. But my loudmouth friend couldn't shut up for a week about me taking OxyContin, so now I don't trust him with drug info.

Pretty much my every day encounter with people.

I get asked by people walking by that smell the weed smoke on me if I have anything for sale. Hell, even when I got pulled over right after hotboxing my car and it was still smoky inside, the cops didn't do anything. I didn't have any weed in the car after I smoked it, and the blunt is self-destroying paraphernalia, you just flick the roach out the window when you're done.

I know I REEKED like weed, and I definitely looked high, but they just let me go with a warning.

my friend however is a straight a student all his life and used to be sorta in a shell. everyone thinks its so weird he tokes.

I only talk about smoking and drugs in general with my group of druggie friends. I don't really hide it from anyone except my parents. Although they definitely know because they recently confiscated my nice glass bowl when I left it lying on the couch then passed out... I wish I could just go to college now.

However, I don't have that much to hide, seeing as I only smoke occasionally, and usually just to get to sleep. My straight edge friends and even my less "hardcore" druggie friends all think I'm this crazed dope fiend addict. I'm not a stoner; I enjoy a wide variety of psychoactives but I don't like shoot up or rail yay in public bathrooms - oh wait, the latter is something I do sometimes...

For the record, I am insanely brilliant. In fact, all the ridiculously intelligent people I know do drugs. I bet Stephen fucking Hawking goes to town on opiates.. probably drops cid too. Where the fuck else would he get the idea for "A Brief History of Time"?!

I kinda am I don't actually know... definitely most of my friends know I smoke but at the same time it's kinda weirdly taboo. I mostly smoke by myself because really because there are like 4 ppl i used to smoke with a lot and in all the situations except for one something would always go bad... 1 person was a bitch who got mad at me all the time... another one I tend to get a little freaked out with him.. the next he sucks and smokes so much of my shit and barely gets high. The last person she's cool but yeah. I also have another person I've smoked with a couple of times but meh she always says she isn't high.. when she clearly is.. which is annoying.

Anyways... because I smoke by myself I have the idea that that isn't exactly cool so I don't really talk about it and also some people are judgmental.

I basically have two groups of friends: the stoners and the straights. I act like a completely different person around each group, which I almost ever mix. Many of my straight friends have no idea that I do drugs. Their reactions can be pretty funny when they eventually find out. I don't actively avoid letting them find out about my marijuana use, but I never hide it from them. One of my straight friends was talking about drug-use and finally asked if I would ever tried weed. I just started laughing loudly before telling him that I've been smoking weed daily longer than I've known him. That sent him for a loop.
Frankly, I'm much closer to my stoner friends than to my straight friends. I think theres something about the act of smoking that brings people together, not to mention acid/shrooms. I can talk with them about the same things I'll talk with my straight friends about as well as getting into drug-fueled craziness. Stoners are also a lot less likely to judge you. When I told my straight friend that I smoked everyday he was visibly disappointed in me. He's come to accept it gradually, but it would never have been an issue with my stoner pals.

Why be? Most people at my school do/pretend to/are down with it, the rest are either a.) faggots i wouldn't be friends with anyway b.) Completely sober, idiotic people who almost fail every class.

but people i've never even met come up to me trying to buy.. or i'll be in the bathroom splashing cold water in my eyes, and some guy I've never met will say "ooh, its true! You are high!" or one time I took a big shit in the stall, came out and some freshman was like "dude, it smells like weed!"... kind of troublesome sometimes, but i keep my shit together so fuck the school if they wanna do something to me based on the fact that I smoke off campus. (as Far as they know.)

I would normally say fuck the ignorant assholes who think it's bad, but the fact is they're my friends. The people I shield it from are the friends that I've known long before highschool (I'm a junior). I'm pretty open about it otherwise, except with the people I know associate with my long time straight edge-ish friends. They doesn't mean I act differently around them, though, I act the same around them as I do anyone else. As someone else said, if they ever do bring it up, sure, I'll tell them the truth. There's no reason not to, they've been my friends for years. It's just too bad that would probably be the outcome, which is why I say "Fuck you!" to the American education system and society in general for making everyone so close-minded.

Not saying my friends are all stoners/druggies, 2 of the closest friends are in the Navy with difficult and high-paying jobs. They obviously don't take any illegal drugs, but they're still smart enough to not form an opinion on something without looking into it first.
