Default Here is the sex.. where is the affection?

As I browse this forum.. I notice something. Many males just see a significant other as just a sex toy with feelings. While working up to trying to have that person, if they get locked up in the "friend zone" they just decide it's not worth pursuing any more. There's nothing wrong with having a person as just a friend. If something you find unattractive really bothers.. do you honestly think being in a relationship was a good idea to begin with? Why does it matter if the woman you love doesn't want to have sex? Look beyond that and still love her so.. if you can't, do you really love her? You may want to categorize your "priorities" of sorts by love, lust, infatuation and friendship.

Though this seems to gone off into ramblings, I suppose I'm just a hopeless (as in incurable, not never having hope) romantic. Making others happy makes me happy, I live lovingly. Yeah.. I'm that fool who may have serenaded a girl with my rather bad voice and guitar, or written a poem, or bought flowers or a gift and let the other person find them. But doing something seemingly stupid has never seemed so amazing until you have the eyes of someone look back at you and you see the look of "Wow, he really does care".

As I finish off this post, I guess it would be fair to say.. respect everyone and have the appropriate priorities and then everything is eventual. You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

A relationships not just about sex, it's about commitment, the feeling that not only is this person special, but that they're more special then anyone else.

Sex is an important part of affection. It allows for deeper interpersonal connections. Yeah it can totally be empty and just for fun, but I love sex as a really emotional thing.

Indeed it is!

But I guess my mindset was more geared for the people that just think "Goddamn, I want some pussy".. I suppose it's just one of those instant gratification vs. long term gratification. If you're a masochist, unprotected one night stands may offer you more long term gratification. (By gratification, I mean the clap.)

Different strokes to move the world...

Sex is a good way of expressing ones love. For some people it may be the only way.

Maybe some people get the physical feelings first, ie lust and desire.. and then the feelings of love follow?

I cant beleive everyone here who's trying to persue a girl or is stuck in the 'friends zone' will give up at the first time it seems they wont get any.

That seems to be the case for most.. Even though I'm a teen, I seem to get the most enjoyment out of an affectionate relationship. Sex is not required for me, if it happens then great, but I won't be on her leg like a dog with a ragin' one until she drops her pants.

A curse? An amazing trait? I guess it's just all subjective to the person's opinion.

OP, I see what you are getting at......but there is one aspect of this that no one has touched on yet. Chicks usually don't make "good" friends. I don't mean that in a mean prickish way, just observing the differences between the genders. Friendship at its core develops when people find common ground on a similar activity or interest. Guys usually ain't into girly things, and vice versa. Seriously, how many women out there would be interested to sit back with me for 12 hours straight and do nothing but watch football on a Sunday with me? Just like how many men would spend such time and care into Yoyo's guinea pigs? Sure you can have plenty of casual platonic aquaintances of the opposite sex, but when you are really discussing "friendships" and all the variables that make up that friendship.....its just very rare to find someone not your gender that has a similar intensity for the interests that you do.

I was thinking that there aren't as many sex questions as there used to be when registrations were open. There are a lot more relationship questions.

totse plays host to quite a few quantitative and computer-oriented posters. Romance has never been a high point of S&A.

Well... that's my opinion, yes...

...but, well... what you describe is always going to exist. So, basically, such posts are just highlighting what is always going to be a fraction of the world (apparently, possibly quite a large fraction, in fact), no matter what happens and irregardless of anything anyone does about it.

Why not just view it as a fascinating showcase in xenopsychology, since it's going to be there anyway?

Normal, unretarded north american males don't go all pepe lepu head over heels over some bitch that walks their way. People who aren't tools dont go gaga because some girl's got a nice smile and a face that'd look good with cum on it. Most girls aren't special and many have ulterior motives for pursuing relationships. Guys use their fists, girls use their tits, common knowledge...

guys have no problem faking affection to get sex though. Guys who try to serenade girls just come out as pathetic creeps. To me at least I gotta know a girl for a minute and probly fuck her first before I can genuinely give a fuck about her and usually not after that...

See... girls read posts like that, and then they think their all fucking that. That they deserve everything without giving anything themselves. What do guys EVER get from girls? sex! thats all we got to look forward to. The door should always fucking swing both ways. I see too many girls putting down too many good guys because they dont get them the materialistic bullshit they want. I couldnt count the countless times ive done something nice for a girl, to never have the favor returned.

Fuck you Shakespeare for convincing every girl to think their a Goddess.

Funny thing, in countries where women significantly outnumber men, guess what happens to the unwed and teenage pregnancy rate? It goes up!

This is because with the limited supply of men, more women have to compete for the same men. They then have to not treat their pussies like something special, and give it up more, resulting in more pregnancies. This sort of thing just goes to show you that the main bargaining chip women possess in relationships is, essentially, sex. Their withholding it or giving it is their primary tool for getting men to stay in a relationship with them. If it weren't for their pussy, and by this I mean the whole package, pheromones, sexuality, etc., virtually every man would rather hang out with guys instead.

So the idea that sex isn't an extremely integral and binding part of a relationship is some reactionary pseudo-romantic nonsense, said by women that are lying to themselves and men without sex appeal, all in an attempt to gain some sense of moral superiority over those more willing to accept our basic instincts as they are, not as Disney or the "romance" section of the bookstore would want them to be.
