I made a gravity bong last night out of a bottle and the sink etc. But I was wondering if there are any modifications I could make easily to make it stronger or more efficient. Any ideas?

I macgyvered the fuck up :) I taped two massive bottles togetherso it was twice the size and made a huge bowl and instead of using a sink I used a full bath. I'm fucking stoned.

Has anyone got any other thoughts on how to make the bong better in any way? Cheers

Put drugs in it.

use a 5 gallon water jug melt a hole in the top and fit a big socket peice in it then grab a screen from your sink or local tobacco shop and put it in there. fill bathtub up, get blown?

make sure all of the seals are as good as they can then connect a down stem under the bowl that reaches almost to the bottom of the bong... when you put the container into the water make sure to leave a little room... the stem is going to displace a little of it. and if it does enough it will come out through the bowl and you have wet weed..

the reduction of pressure is enough to pull the smoke down the tube, so that it bubbles up through the remaining water...

provides for a much smoother hit...

Another good one is to get a 5 foot long and a little bigger in diameter than a 3-liter bottle piece of PVC pipe with a waterproof flat end cap so it can stand. Get 5-6 3 liter bottles and cut out the straight sides of the bottle in a cylinder, with one leaving the thread/dome intact. Now, slide all 5 of these together and super glue them to make a tube with the threaded mouth at one end. Put a socket through the cap (use a 5/8th inch boring bit and a 3/4 inch socket, at the smallest).

Get some tinfoil, mold it into the open end of the socket and poke holes in it to make a screen. Rubber band the edges down around the outside nice and tight to make it airtight.

Now, pack the bowl full of weed and the PVC pipe full of water, with the bottle-tube resting all the way to the bottom of the pvc pipe. Stand on a ladder or a chair and start lighting the weed and pulling the bottle tube up. As the weed burns out, keep adding more to the bowl, pausing on the pulling up to unscrew the cap and dump the ashes every once in a while (just put your hand over the mouth of the bottle.. the seal will make it easy to hold it and keep the smoke in).

Once you get the bottle as full as you want it, exhale deeply, put your mouth on the bottle opening, inhale, and jump off the chair or ladder and take that son of a bitch in one hit.

Best bucket I've ever seen was made by cutting the bottom off of a Colt 45 bottle (the 40 oz., of course) and the water holding vessel was just a plain ol' bucket. It kicked some serious ass.

There's a very simple and awkward method of creating a monstrosity. Basically, get a plastic trash can and a trash bag. Put the bag in the trash can and tape the bag to it. Next, put a hole in the trash can's bottom without puncturing the bag. Then, rig your make-shift bowl to it. Lit it up and pull the bag slowly out. Finally, remove the bowl and inhale from the hole it the bottom. I say put the hole it the bottom for the simple fact it is harder to notice when you put it back. :D

I have to assume that it's only in the posts I read, since he seems to command some measure of respect from other totseans/BLTCers. OP, when making gravity bongs, I always keep this maxim in mind: Bigger is better. If a liter bottle isn't doing it for you, try a 2 liter! Sink not big enough? Use a bath tub. Bath tub not big enough (somehow)? Use a swimming pool

You should definitely give the waterfall bong a chance as well. It's very easy to make, but here are some instructions in case you don't know what it is.
This is essentially a variant on the gravity. You take a bottle (I use a
2-litre) and drill a small hole (about 3/8") in the bottom, at the lowest
point. Cover this hole with your finger and fill the bottle up. Then, attach a filled bowl to the top (I use the same Coke-bottle lid as the gravity) and light the dope. Uncover the hole out the bottom, and as the water drains out, the smoke will be drawn in. Keep the bowl lit and let the water drain out, and by the time you're done you have a 2-litre bottle full of concentrated smoke. Just suck from the top and uncover the hole at the bottom to hoot. This is also an extremely efficient design, as very little smoke can escape.

the man knows his shit better than most... yes he is an asshole to alot of people who ask fairly stupid questions... but to those who appear to have gone out and done a little bit of research before they ask the question he can be a wealth of knowledge...

I have an easy rider for my gravity bong.

It's a piece of wood shaped like a cone with a cone piece in it that fits perfectly in the top of any 1.25L/2L soft drink bottle.

You just place it in the top, pull the plunger and pull it off. So much easier than melting holes in lids and fitting the cone piece in and you don't have to screw it off and on.

Joe had instructions to a pretty cool bong... sounded ultra efficient, and fairly cheap if I remember correctly.

He should make some designs for one and either make and sell them, or make the designs available so we could order the parts ourselves and make one.
