Keeping MJ fresh
Ok, so I picked up a qp, and I want to make sure that for the next 2-3 weeks it doesnt dry up completely and turn to shit. (well that's what seemed to happen before to me when i had it for a month) I've heard that throwing an orange peel in the bag helps, any word on this?

tupper ware. Dark closet.
Also, you can spray bottle the weed lightly, every other day.

Re: Keeping MJ fresh
Store it in an air tight container.
An orange peel serves to "re-moisturize" the weed, if it's dry. I haven't used an orange peel before, but I've used a damp paper towel square in a jar full of dry weed. It worked pretty well too. After a day or two when I removed the paper towel square I could squeeze the weed in between my fingers and have the weed feel "spongy" rather than "crispy", if that makes any sense.
But I don't think you need it right off the bat.

Re: Keeping MJ fresh
Moisture = mold. I suggest a small "space bag"(those vaccum sealed bags).

Orange peel works well, just don't leave it in too long.

Re: Keeping MJ fresh
When you buy weed, it should be dry. It weighs less.
Put it in a jar to keep fresh. And obviously anything moist will moisten your weed.

No mold in there.
Not mine, but a friends. Been in there for almost 8 months. Proper drying is key, but overdrying will turn your shit to dust.
Peace.

Re: Keeping MJ fresh
No no no, orange peels and weed are a funky combo. Poop in it, or use a mason jar as already described, and if the weed starts to dry out then get a several pieces of cotton with a few drops of water on them and put it in with the ganj.

Re: Keeping MJ fresh
Don't use fruit peels of any kind unless you got some dirt weed that could use improvement in flavor. Because orange and apple - the two I've used - does leave a taste of its own. Now this taste ain't bad, and - like I said - if the weed lacks in good flavor, it can really help. But you don't want to change the flavor of good weed.
These days I use a couple of different things. I learned them from a friend of mine who grows for some of the medical pot clubs around here. The first is carrot peels. The other - and better one, IMO - is [believe it or not] pieces of flour tortilla. In a pinch I have used small pieces of iceberg lettuce. But that is very easy to over do it.
Something I also learned from my friend is that most growers - and I don't mean the 6 plant home 'hobbyist' - will actually dry out their pot on purpose to store. If they didn't they would have a lot of moldy weed if they have to store it any length of time [and for outdoor growers, that is a lot of time usually]. Then, just before they get ready to sell more, they use carrot peels or flour tortilla to rehydrate it.

Re: Keeping MJ fresh
Since it is a quarter pound, just keep it in the bag it came in... you won't be able to tell that it is drying up until you are down to around an ounce... I say don't worry about it, and if you DO end up with part of your bag losing some weight... try the orange peels.

Re: Keeping MJ fresh
Im seriously the only one thats heard of the PBP (preservation by poop) method?
Thats usually how your weed gets its citrus or other smells, the perserver eats a lot of citrus, bubblegum, etc beforehand.
