because totse as a whole doesn't sympathize with you and only you.

for one, it's a stupid fucking choice, because what percentage of totseans are going to think "wow, i could really use that book, i should look into that". they're targeting a pretty fucking small demographic.

and it has nothing to do with sympathizing with me, it's not like the advertisement upsets/offends me really, i'm just wondering why the hell someone would advertise something like that on this site.

because; drug user/friendly people are more likely to know/have a family/significant other/friend who has serious substance dependence problems

and people sometimes come to BLTC to get some facts straight about some one they might be concerned about...

i've bought many such books for people in my family.


i'm an addict, albeit clean now, and that impacts my immediate and extended family. imagine my dad trying to explain to my 84 year old grandmother that i'm missing thanksgiving because i'm homeless and on heroin, or christmas because i'm in jail for contempt (read: nothing) due to drug court. they need ways to deal with that, and maybe one of them doing research finds totse and that link. or i see it and buy it for them. it makes decent sense actually.

2. Find a market
3. Advertise in that market
4. Profit
