I've built two bongs using water bottles and they worked quite well. Now I understand shotty holes in bongs are designed to drain the chamber quickly. But I don't really understand it , I've looked up all the research on them etc etc but still don't really understand how they work or if i should use one for my next bong.

Does Boyles ideal gas law ring a bell? No? Go google it.

It's a bigger hole than the cone piece and it doesn't have to get sucked through water, therefore when you take your finger off the hole, air rushes in, displacing the smoke real quick like an shiz.

There's more to it but i suck at explaining things and it's really not that important.

They just make it easier and you don't have to suck in the last persons stale smoke. :)
