On my metal pipe theres this screw on cap with a hole in it.

whenever i get a new pipe i want to throw this part away.

What is it for?

Honestly, I have no REAL idea, but friends have told me it is for carrying packed bowls in your pocket, and being able to pull it out quickly, smoke it, then put it back in your pocket, others have told me you are supposed to put a fat joint in that hole... but, again, I have no idea of its real use.

Extinguishing the bowl after one hit to conserve the pot. Their great for being a teenager ... smoking out the window of your room, the bus, whenever you sneak off for a quick toke ...

The same as putting something flat over the bowl. The small hole allows the flame to travel through, but after you stop drawing on the bowl, no more oxygen gets pulled in/blown across the bowl, and the cherry goes out.

I like the ones with holes. I pack the lid with weed and the bowl, and then take a massive rip. You have to open and stir after a few hits, but it's all good. Bowl lid hits kickass.

after im done smoking a roach i put it in there and smoke in from there. When it gets small enough it falls in the bowl and gets burned.

hey, i smoked out of glass for years before i came across a metal pipe with a cap, and it took a bit of stoned thinking before i realized the logic behind it, so maybe it's not so simple to dismiss as a dumbass question.

There's the bowl extinguishing thing that it's actually for, but I like the fact that it whistles when I smoke with it.

For optimum whistling effect (it whistles a little bit anyways if you place the ligher right and inhale at the right speed), take the cap and turn it upside-down. Put your weed in the now upside-down cap and smoke. It defeats the purpose that it's actually for, but it's funny to hear it whistle if your baked.

Dont throw it away, being able to keep a packed bowl in your pocket at all times is more valuable then you think.

QFMFT, even a retard could figure out what it's for....

I have been told and read in a couple of places that this is so you can carry a packed bowl around and so you can light the weed through the hole when it is windy so it doesn't blow away.
