Default I think that I have "let myself go."

While having a chat with a friend , he told me that I've sort of let myself go. And this scares the shit out of me.. I didn't know I was letting myself go, I thought I was just being comfortable. I feel somewhat less "marketable" and I assume that my lack of flattering clothing is the reason he thinks this. And it's not just him, I've got a feeling it's everyone.

Fuck. Is it so bad that I don't give a shit about impressing people? I do take care of my hair and face and am quite skinny.. but when it comes to everything else I could not care less.

My question for you is.. how does one not let themselves go? And what differentiates a let go person from a non let go person? And why?

I'm just confused right now.

"Letting youself go" can mean many different things to different people. It doesn't sound like you have (to me, at least).

This is one thread that will necessarily require pics to make any sort of judgment.

The things I hated about a girlfriend letting herself go around me was the hygene. Suddenly it was ok to fart around me all the time and not shower as much.

As a guy I wouldn't give a shit about clothes, girls look cute in a lot of things. Hygene is the biggie.

Why would you want pics?

To me, when one lets themself go, it means they don't put as much effort into being attractive anymore. This can mean gaining weight, wearing sweatpants and baggy t-shirts all the time, or feeling free to fart like it's going out of style.

Maybe that kid is just talking out his ass, or is misinterpreting your general laid-backness as laziness? Do you think you've let yourself go?

Ask him what the fuck he's on about.

There's about a 75% chance you will need to tell him to fuck himself when he explains himself, though.

Surely when that cropped up in conversation, you asked him how?

Would have saved a lot of time. But if you take care of yourself hair and face-wise, and are in good shape, then it's probably clothes, or drugs.

Stripped, don't be confused.....be proud. Unless you are going through some kind of depression and feeling run down, its just like you said....."who the fuck do you have to impress?".

There are so many guys that would appreciate a chick that can say....."ok, let's go", and then be out the door in 5-10 minutes. Change your shirt, hair in a pony tail, gotta pee, fuck the sweatpants its only the grocery store or BK, and you are on your rag after all. Sounds like you are being practical and not vain, a very admirable trait in and of itself. And if nothing else you are just more independent than other girls. While they want to put on the continuous effort of "looking good" or putting on whatever show trying to attract guys, you are just being you, living life and having fun. Ya ask me, you are ahead of the game. You KNOW you look good....and when you want to you can flaunt it/use it. Do it on YOUR time, not everyone else's.

^^^that.

What's that saying? Those who care don't matter and those who matter don't care. Something like that. It's totally true too.

I think some people might say I've let myself go too. But those are exactly the type of people I don't give a shit about impressing, ya know?

I think you should just brush off your friend's comment and remember that it really, truly does not matter what you look like.

What he possibly means is that "wtf, you're not wearing revealing clothes in an attempt to attract the opposite sex! This obviouslt means you've let yourself go!"

Dont sweat it. After all, he's a friend not a prospective mate, right? So his oppinion about your attractiveness shouldnt matter.

Being comfortable is very good. Being comfortable enough with yourself and attractive enough to wear saggy sweats out is good.
Being a person who spends hours before going out putting makeup and deciding which dress to wear and at the end of it still looking shit, I envy you a little.

I've been doing the same thing lately. I used to get dressed up all the fucking time, but my ex-boyfriend didn't care how I dressed, so I've gotten really lazy the past couple of months. During the last 2 or 3 weeks of school, I actually showed up in pajamas almost every day.

I'm starting to actually wear regular clothes when I leave the house most of the time now, so I guess I'm "getting myself back" or something.

Sure of yourself that you could have carried on with your day cool, calmly oblivious of his innuendo without him ending up up your end?

No, it's more like "Omg I can't believe you're wearing pajamas out of the house! I wish I could do that!" A guy actually said that to me when I showed up for my chemistry final in pajamas.

pj's are alright if you're just fuckin around yer hood and someone comes n gets you to go somewhere or somethin but otherwise it's just dumb. Girls know/care alot more bout clothes than straight men so they should know that PJs means bitch is lazy, poor and knows shes nothin special probly.

I think style is a redundant word, when referring to clothes. It depends on the person, how they feel comfortable and how they feel natural.

Thus I hate the fashion industry because it's existence is based purely on people saying that you can't be seen without this, because I think it's stylish.

And I feel sorry for people who follow fashion because of it. I can understand wanting to look good, but there is more than one way to do it.

You peeps dogging folks that are walking around in pajamas in public need to get a fuckin grip. One of the most idiotic aspects of our supposed "advanced" civilization is our constant attention to clothes, and the LACK of advancement in regard to our idealogies towards what is "appropriate" in clothing. Take a look around. Compare the garb of today to our forefathers hundreds of years ago.....not much has really changed for the better.

What's ridiculous is we are stuck in some Victorian Era nonsense, thinking that "formal" is better. And this whole line of thinking is pushed by the power people in these "advanced" civilizations. Presidents, CEO's, judges, lawyers, politicians, the filthy rich........everyone running around in suits and ties as if its "necessary". Seriously, is there anything more pointless than a suit and tie? They aren't comfortable or practical. Think of the expense, the care, the laundering, the constant fussing (I'm standing up, time to button my sportcoat.....I'm sitting down, time to unbutton, button, unbutton, button, unbutton, all the live long day), all the fuckin bullshit involved with supposed "power" clothes. And the people that COULD change our clothes idealogy is firmly intrenched in a mindset that is HUNDREDS OF YEARS old!

I observe other civilizations that most people deem as a "lesser" advanced society and look at them with envy. Whether the normal tribal garb in some remote village, or our middle eastern brethren.....one can witness a more sensible, more practical, and most importantly more COMFORTABLE manner of dress. (Disregarding those peeps that put shit in their lips and ears making them the size of frisbees). Is anyone really a "better" person because they are in a suit and tie, when a pair of dockers and a polo can be a sufficient enough of an "image" to uphold? Also, isn't it somewhat intriguing how in EVERY futuristic sci-fi movie/tv show.....you don't see such formality in dress? Yes there are certain DIFFERENCES in those future citizens' apparel, separating certain sects of society. But never anything so confining or impractical at what we currently deem as "proper business" attire. So many visions of a "better" society, yet we are light years from actually living out those sensible fashions that so many authors foresee.

Back to the pajama angle. If you really examine those pajama bottoms they aren't significantly different than other types of pants. So what if they are emblazoned with a plethora of Sponge Bob's or other whimsical pattern? Their fabric and make-up isn't much different than a pair of sweats that say "Hollister" on the ass, or any other pair of stretchy pants.

Kudos to anyone with enough self confidence to go out in public regardless at what they are wearing, and not put so much wasted time and effort in what is supposedly "appropriate". As long as everyone's pink parts are covered, why the fuck should anyone care? Save the "formality" of fashion for weddings and Academy Award shows.......

I don't think many guys actually wear pajamas. Most guys just sleep in sweat pants/boxers/shorts.

What the fuck are baby dolls?

I don't know what kind of guys you talk to, but I sleep nude, and so do a lot of people I know.

Funny new year's story: One of the girls that crashed on the floor there actually slept in the middle of the living room naked, just under a pile of blankets.

Not too many kids into the double digits who don't find things their parents do embarrassing?

I've actually been working out every day over the break.
