Default To Believers: Why didn't God show himself before?

To all believers of all Christianity/Islam/Judaism,

Why did each respective religion have to wait for God to speak to Abraham (Judaism - c. 2000 BCE), Jesus (Christianity - c. 23 CE), or Muhammed (Islam - c. 610 CE) for these 'right' religions to be started? Why did God not present himself to the ancient Greeks/Romans/Egyptians - each of whom had their multiple and 'blasphemous' gods?

Why did he not make it clear from the beginning of time and human existence that he was the only god, and use his powers to show to humans that he was the 'only' god, as he did in the Torah, Bible, and Koran?

I'm not pointing out flaws here, I'm looking for intelligent answers.

God made His presence known at the beginning. He spoke to Adam in the Garden of Eden.

Funny how nowadays He demands that you believe in Him on pure faith, and will send you to burn for eternity if you don't believe, when He could easilly show Himself.

Nice guy, huh?

This is, of course, a myth. As myths go, it is not without its charms.

Logic is not one of them.

Far as I'm concerned, shamans were going one on one with God 20,000 years ago--and some ahthropologists would push that back to 50,000 years ago.

I think you have forgotten the tons of prophets then and now. Of course, only some are accepted as orthodox and others are heretics. Large diversions in spiritual thought(new sects/religions) were more political (Constantine's acceptance of Christianity). Otherwise, without political clout, most are left by the wayside of time.

God has been made manifest many times over the millennia.

We create our own God as we create reality--in accordance with our state of consciousness and spirtual evolution.

1) Why would God feel the need to "show" or "reveal" himself?

2) In the "religions" you mentioned, he sent down his message via messengers.

3) In my eyes, anyone that brings forth a message that encourages the belief in the single, timeless, needless, emotionless creator, is a messenger. That along with faith based reason and logic, not wishful thinking.

Nanak Dev can be considered a messenger.

Socrates can be considered a messenger (mentioned in the Qur'an as Suqrat). He was sentenced to suicide for putting forth the idea of a God with odd characteristics (odd to the Greeks at that time that were used to ones with human attributes and emotions) and corrupting the minds of the youth if I remember correctly.

Zoroaster can be considered a messenger. Aesop can be considered a messenger (mentioned in the Qur'an as Luqman). Lao-Tze can be considered a messenger.

Even Hinduism talks about Brahman.

I don't know when these systems took on multiple gods along with having rites and rituals that change every 1000 miles. I firmly believe that the majority of todays what we consider religions were once a uniform system that God prescribed to humans, just in different languages. The message didn't change. As time passed, this system, started to slowy creeping in what they believed before and what their parents believed. I don't know a single religion today that doesn't exalt something tangible in some form or another, instead of fighting in God's cause. It's a lot easier to face a direction while praying, shave your heads and wear orange, kiss a book everytime you read it, or bow before a statue, or not eat pork than it is to give money out of your pocket to the poor, or step up to injustice, or not screw your wife's sister.

Do good to promote the growth of self and the human race instead of doing meaningless and worthless actions. What a concept, eh?

~~~
PS: Change all the "____ can be considered a messenger." to "I consider _____ a messenger."
If I am not mistaken the Ancients had their own image of god.
If you are asking why did the god of Abraham not reveal himself to the Ancients--because we all know that they had the internet back then which made spreading information expedient--then I believe you need to look at the facts we can derive from the people of the god of Abraham.
1) The god of Abraham was the god of the Semites during ancient times.
2) The Ancients were not Semitic--therefore they never heard the true word of god.
3) The god of Abraham was revealed to the Ancients--the Greeks had ports of entry throughout the Meditterranean, the Romans had once occupied the land of Israel and most definetly the god of Abraham was revealed to the Egyptians as referenced in the book of Exodus!
God may have, but how would we ever know? The problem with taking the Bible as the word of God is that it was written, translated, and edited by the hands of men.
If God actually did create the Universe or possibly even other universes, why would God be solely concerned with human life? Our universe is way too big for use to be the only ones out there.
I've always took human life to mean intelligent.. Or self aware, something like that.
Mind you, I'm sure I over-generalise everything.
The garden of eden had every plant known to man ever right?
So they wouldve had cocoa, marijuana, opium. Its human nature to experiment so maybe they smoked too much of one of them and ended up hearing things, hallucinating and everything else the "bibles" say.
Doesn't it seem right to you that he should give us reasonable proof of his existence if he is planning to send us to hell for eternity for not believing?
2) In the "religions" you mentioned, he sent down his message via messengers.
That's supposed to convince us? It sounds like Yahweh wants us to go to hell.
3) In my eyes, anyone that brings forth a message that encourages the belief in the single, timeless, needless, emotionless creator, is a messenger. That along with faith based reason and logic, not wishful thinking.
So Joseph Smith was a messenger? Muhammad? L. Ron Hubbard?
