eHarmony?
I thought about trying eharmony, has anybody here used it? I've seen quite a few of their commercials, and read how they supposedly match you up based on 29 different dimensions.
How does this work? Any advice?

Re: eHarmony?
Internet dating may seem appealing, but trust me in the end it's not worth it, especially if you have to pay for it. Most of the attractive women who date over the internet have hundreds of suitors messaging them per day, you'll just be another.
if you want to try it out use a free service like justsayhi or plentyoffish

I can see where you are getting at, but isn't eHarmony about "deep compatibility"? That couldn't possibly happen on that website because doesn't it match you based on personality-wise traits?

Re: eHarmony?
http://www.OkCupid.com
Very nice free dating-type site. Not all dating focused though. I've actually met some really awesome girls there. And if you hit it off with one of them, they usually put out on the first date!
Remember TheSpark.com? It split into SparkNotes and OkCupid a while ago. And a lot of the visitors from thespark are still on there, which is cool. Check out the humor section too! There's the Fat Project, Date My Sister Project and StinkyFeet!

Re: eHarmony?
lol i heard eharmony rejects people based on there info often.
a lady my dad works with says she got rejected by the site....an the letter said something along the lines as she wouldn't even be compatible to date herself.
most traits of a totsean
ie.
laughing an beheading videos an such probably wont look well on a online dating application

Re: eHarmony?
I tried it years ago before I got married. The short version
2 hours to fill out the stupid questionnaire
They would only give me one match. We talked, and didn't really hit it off (TV lied to me????).
Later my wife and I tried to see if we were compatible and we're nowhere even close. Long story short, math/computers are not good at determining love.
Wasted $50 bucks and a week.

Re: eHarmony?
CDAWG's right that you won't get any matches.
I gave it a try for free and believe me, it's a bit of a downer when it tells you that there is no one of any race, age, or religion in the entire world that is compatible with you.
Perhaps it's just my fucked personality though :)

Re: eHarmony?
I was messing around on it for the hell of it last night and I think it is pretty bad.
It doesn't seem to match on 29 dimensions, whatever the hell that is supposed to be. It also tried to match me with people all over the US when I said I wanted them close to 30 miles...
What it seemed like it did was it would pick a few of my traits and then pick a few traits from the other person, and if they were similar it would match us. There was no way in hell it was 29 dimensions though, it mainly paired us up for 3-4 similarities on our profile.

Re: eHarmony?
The only people I ever find on dating websites are fat. Unfortunately, every now and then I sign up for one and make a profile, so after all these years I'm probably on like every dating site, and I still have fat girls emailing me who I haven't responded to in like four years. Like, I'm on fat peoples' mailing lists or something.
So I advise against going to those sites at all, plus the guy from eHarmony is just creepy. However, I have met some cool people on Craigslist, when I posted an ad the day I moved to a new state. I am still really good friends with one of them, and I didn't meet any morons. I guess it's just luck.
Also, I have heard that eHarmony rejects people all the time, which the people above me have said, and they don't allow homosexuals to use their service, since the creepy founder guy is a hardcore Christian nutjob. Not that it matters to me, but doing that on principle is kind of stupid. I'd never pay for their services. If I want to spend $50 looking for a mate I'll go downtown, buy some drinks, and it'll probably take less time than it would to fill out those surveys.

Re: eHarmony?
I've met a few people of gumtree, and one girl off of alt, the bdsm site, although I didn't get it on with her. stick to the free sites, and see how you do. Just play it safe etc.. it's not all fatties!

Apparently I only have one match, and his name is Luis. No thanks.
