Mary impregnated by the incubus?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incubus_%28demon%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succubus
"According to the Malleus Maleficarum, or "Witches' Hammer", published against the recommendation of the Catholic Church in 1487 and officially banned in 1490, succubi would collect semen from the men they slept with, which incubi would then use to impregnate women thus explaining how demons could apparently sire children in spite of the traditional belief that demons were incapable of reproduction through generative or gestative means. Children so begotten were supposed to be more susceptible to the influence of demons."
Even the Catholic Church believed in the existence of these demons.

According to this picture, the incubus holds in his hand what seems like a crucifix.
Da Vinci Code, anyone?

Re: Mary impregnated by the incubus?
Isn't the incubus on the bed? The being with the cross is perhaps preventing it from molesting the sleeping woman.

Since both of them have identical wings , I would say both of them are incubi.
Also, both figures have bat wings. Angels are usually depicted with feathery bird wings.

Not sure about you guys, but I'm sure that that 'crucifix' loooks an awful lot like a knife to me.
Also I'm not sure that the brighter fingure is doing any good. The 'knife', seems to be dangling over that chicks neck, he's focusing directly on her and doesn't seem to b paying attention to the other figure. Even the torch he's holding isn't directed at the dark figure in a warding way, it's behind them.
But hell, if we're accepting the existence of an Incubus being responsible for the pregnancy of Mary, then I don't see why we don't accept vampires, buffy and God.
