You're Not A Stalker Until Restraining Orders Are Involved
That's my philosophy anyway.
You don't even want to know what brought that about, but suffice it to say that it involved an anime convention and myspace.

I'd say you're a stalker when you do things that require said restraint order.
1) FAIL
2) Story or GTFO.

Re: You're Not A Stalker Until Restraining Orders Are Involved
Apparently it's considered "creepy" when you meet someone, then track down their myspace in order to get ahold of them again.
The only thing I can think of that could at all be considered 'creepy' is when I mentioned that this (http://a877.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/111/l_69b0bb4e17959c6f45e6b7d07a1caabc.jpg) was a sexy costume, and asked if she made it herself.

Pfft...Women are just too sensitive these days.
You ask a simple question and apparently you're trying to kidnap them, rape them, kill them and rape them again!

It is a very sexy costume.
Posting her pics (Presumably that's the girl you're talking about?) on a forum like Totse isnt going to make the situation any better..

She's not that creative. Ebay ftw.

Which is why I linked directly to the pic, rather than her myspace page.
I may be stupid about women, but I'm not insane.

Ok, so it was a bad move instead of a worse move.

Why bad move? Is there some way that I'm not aware of that can be used to find and harass this person?
Or does it just reflect badly on me? Cause honestly, you guys have seen me at my worst, and this doesn't even come close. What do I care what you guys think of me? You either respect me or you don't, and really, I'm accustomed to a lack of respect.

Re: You're Not A Stalker Until Restraining Orders Are Involved
Well yeah, it does reflect a little badly. Saying 'i didn't do anything wrong, nothing creepy' but then posting a pic of her, without knowledge or permission on a public site is a bit contradictory.
Y'know, if you did want to start getting respect/etc. from people (not neccesarily totse), it's not too hard to change.

It's not like it was a private pic. I don't see the big deal, but if you say it is, I'll have to take your word for it.
Sometimes (a lot of times) I just don't grasp basic aspects of human behavior like that. I swear I was dropped on this planet by Martians or something.

This is where the "laws" of the internet are still unwritten. Ok, so you found a pic.....and now you think its "yours" to do with however you see fit. Granted, there is no "legal" problem here....but its ethical. Do you respect her privacy/life?
Its this simple. A woman for whatever reason threatened legal action against you to "restrain contact". In essence, she is saying....."Stay away, keep out of my life, I don't want you around me". Your response to that is to post her pic for the whole world to see. If you can't understand the "wrongness" in that, I suggest you stay in your room and not go out in public until the day comes that you do.

Exaggeration for dramatic effect. Yeesh. How pathetic do you think I am?
As far as I know, being called creepy (behind my back for the most part) is as far as it's ever gone.

Pathetic enough to not be able to communicate with other members of your species in a concise manner so as to be able to discuss whatever the fuck the point of this thread and that title is getting at.

It would have been better to save the pic you posted to a photobucket account belonging to yourself. Just to be carefull.

Re: You're Not A Stalker Until Restraining Orders Are Involved
In any event...
I do know that when I see an opportunity, (or something), I do tend to pursue it too aggressively. I've tried scaling it back, but that just ends up landing me in the friends zone.
Once I realize that I'm being creepy (just about the time she starts avoiding me) I generally leave a written note apologizing for my behavior, and letting her know that she won't hear from me again unless she decides to contact me.
I figure I've given her enough trouble, she doesn't need to worry about me jumping out of the shadows at her.
It's sad that I have an actual routine for dealing with this situation...

If I had a vagina which could be fucked... I'd be smart enough to get a restraining order on all guys who went to anime conventions...

Girls are strange creatures. No doubt someday you'll meet a girl who will tackle you to the ground and do you, do you right there, if you act even a tiny bit stalkerish.
Who knows?!

Women are just stuck up nowadays. Even attempting to make eye contact with a girl can be construed as creepy.

If he's writing letters of apology in form letters, I'm guessing that there's more to it than eye contact.

The only behavior that I've been able to definatly identify is that I try to spend too much time with her. I guess when a guy drops by to chat every day, it's a little creepy. I've stopped doing that.

I don't see how there's anything wrong with it. She went out in public in that costume, didn't she?

I like spending time with people I like. I'm lucky in that I found a girl who likes spending time with me, too.

Re: You're Not A Stalker Until Restraining Orders Are Involved
Hi Prometheus, how are you?
Speaking from experience, it isn't an easy process to get a restraining order. It takes time and effort and it is emotionally draining. I can't think of any reason why a woman would go through with it just based on what you're saying, does she have any reason to be malicious towards you? If not, maybe your aggressiveness went far enough to be perceived as threatening, perhaps you'd like to share some more details ?

In Delaware, all you have to do is tell someone "stay away from me," and you have a restraining order.
