Using the term SWIM
Will people please stop using the term SWIM?
I know we ask you to keep things hypothetical - for your protection as well as ours. But using SWIM does not protect you at all and it makes you look like an idiot.
So please refrain from using it.
Thank you.

Re: Using the term SWIM
Teen machine, nothing protects you besides NOT breaking the law and then posting it on a public website for every cop in the world to see.
And green, you are fucking retarded. STFU idiot.
And meta, I agree 100%, and was waiting for BongTech to get back before I discussed it with him and the other mods of LT.

Re: Using the term SWIM
I had an argument with someone in NiS about this. He thought I didn't understand what the acronym SWIM meant was why I was saying it wouldn't do anything. Grrr...
My reply was that if you're posting enough details that it would be incriminating, you're a suspect SWIM or no, and if you're not, then SWIM is even more pointless.
Inn short, if you're using SWIM, have yourself checked to see if your intelligence compares favorably to a gnat -- I doubt it will if you think it'll protect you in the slightest.

The only thing that would protect you is actually not doing it. And even saying it and not doing it is as good as doing it in the eyes of the law these days.

Re: Using the term SWIM
Seeing SWIM used when referring to serious crimes isn't that annoying. Its when people overuse the term in stupid situations that pisses people off, like
"Swim just bought 1gram of marijuana, did swim get ripped off? swim thinks swim might have gotten ripped off because swim weighed the marijuana and it was only .5grams. Did swim get ripped off??"
^^People that do that should be shot.
1)Its pointless and 2) using a real/fake name and saying its a dream looks much better.

Re: Using the term SWIM
its much easier to have a disclaimer in your profile or signature than to use SWIM in your posts.
this is mine:
"I feel the need to state here that i do not use any drugs unless instructed to do so by a physician. Further, i do not believe that recreational drug use is a wise decision. However, I do believe that those who do choose to use drugs should have available the information to make informed decisions regarding their drug use. I also find drugs and pharmacology to be fascinating, this is why i engage in an exchange in information about their use. Any reference to personal experience or action i make on this board is done strictly because questions and experiences are easier to communicate in the first person. The entirety of my posts are either hypothetical or concern persons other than myself."

SWIM thinks that SWIM SWIM and SWIM are SWIMs and they can go SWIM themselves all the way to SWIM in a SWIM.

Re: Using the term SWIM
whenever someone makes their post hypothetical by saying that their friend asked them something, i'll usually give them the benefit of the doubt and think that their friend really did ask them, but if someone goes and uses SWIM it just makes it so obvious that they're really talking about themselves. i'm sure a lot of other people think that way too so it's really pointless to even use it at all.

Re: Using the term SWIM
... because I'm going to take legal advice from Metaphysicist ESQ?
I would never use SWIM, mainly because I would never talk about anything that serious on a public forum. However, SWIM is definitely less incriminating than admitting yourself to be involved in criminal activity.
