Help me be less of a giant bitch
Here is my situation: There is a girl I like, but I really don't know her. I've only spoken to her around 3 times in total. When I did talk to her, it wasn't awkward or anything like that. I think I came off well on those occasions (confident, intelligent, whatever.) Anyway, I can't force myself to actually go up to her after class and initiate conversation. I just end up choking each time I try.
I thought about why, and I realized that I have a very strong fear of failure/rejection. I've never actually let a girl know that I like her because of said fear. How do I break down this barrier and start talking to her? If I stay inside this social fortification, I'll let her slip through my hands and it will probably haunt me for some time.
I'm an optimist, and I really do believe that she wouldn't be adversed to going out with me if I play my cards right. I am pretty sure that she is hungry for male attention has somewhat low self esteem. This makes my inability to start talking to her an irrational, annoying piece of shackling shit. Still though, I can't break free. Please assist.

Re: Help me be less of a giant bitch
She probably has more self confidence than you think she does. And probably you. Grow a pair and talk to her, is that hard to talk someone about class or something?

You've got nothing to lose, and much to maybe gain, just go for it.

Re: Help me be less of a giant bitch
Talk to her and comment that she seems like a cool chick and then invite her to a party. If she seems into you, offer to give her a ride there. If it's so-so, tell her about it and say you'll see her there (even if she doesn't say she's going).
High school chicks love the funny, confident guys that party hard... Well, it was like that when I was there. Unless you go for the head-in-the-books, anti-social girls. I have no experience in that department.

Re: Help me be less of a giant bitch
Dude, talk to her, I know its the generic advice youd here from a milion other users on teh interbuttz, but its the only true. Talk talk talk..., then if youre not sure she likes you, just ask her, and it depends on the girl, you must decided, some would prefer the 'I love you etc.' others prefer something more uh.. realistic (?) like 'Hey, I really like You, I was thinking maybe we could... what do you think ?'. Just go for it, be honest with her, but dont seem like a obsessive freak or a stalker. And keep cool, I know a girl can fuck with your mind, just stay cool about it.
And just a side note, because since the day I joined totse, I knew Im gonna have to do it, Im so fucking close to securing a good girl (Im 17, never had a gf before, generic totse user etc.) when I make it, Ill have to post a thread.

Re: Help me be less of a giant bitch
I dont see how it makes you bad to be somewhat nervous.
Continue talking to her when you can, talk to her whenever the opportunity arises, and slowly get to know her. It's a start.

First of all remove your ego, you do not sound like an optimist. As for talking to her, would you be able to go up and approach her if I had a gun to your head and was threatening to kill you?
All you are experiencing is fear, one fear supersedes the other, which is why you would do it. Force yourself past these uncomfortable situations, that is the only way you'll ever get over it.

Re: Help me be less of a giant bitch
Man, first impressions are huge. Girls usually know if they're going to get with a guy within the first few seconds of meeting them. So she's probably already made up her mind about you, now you just have to see if she made the one you wanted her to make. Talk to her next time you see her and ask her out. As for being a bitch, remember Rudy: In this lifetime you don't have to prove nothing to nobody except yourself. And after what you've gone through, if you haven't done that by now? It ain't gonna never happen.

Re: Help me be less of a giant bitch
I actually went out of my way to talk to her today, and it felt pretty good. I knew where she was going to be, and, as I approached, I almost backed down (as I have so many times before.) Anyway, I was really nervous, but I thought about how pissed off at myself I would be if I didn't say something, anything, to her when I had a chance. I guess I'll have to repeat this process until things fall into place.

Re: Help me be less of a giant bitch
Just remember, you only look like an idiot trying to talk to her. Whats the worst she could say, "No?". Its better if you try than to delay it.
OR you can play it badass and look cool in the halls and make her come to you.
