It's the little things in life.. you know?
Yesterday, due to a slight mistiming, Liverpuddlian traffic and a shit public transport system I ended up missing check in for a flight back to Belfast and I've stopped in with a few of my stoner friends.
However, when I was at the airport, I met this girl who was in a similar position as me. She was from Southern Ireland and had had the worst day of her life. We chatted for a while, flirted even and it put my troubles in light. We had both reacted to similar experiences in the same way - she had ended up in tears, I had been prepared to kill somebody just to get home, but there we were having a bit of a chuckle with one another.
The thing is, I'll probably never meet her again. We only exchanged first names, no surnames, no numbers. Her town is hours away from mine and when we're at uni we're still miles away. Just for what must have been an hour and a half at most, it felt like we connected.
We were both saying that if either one of us got stuck we could crash at a friend of our's house. (Her friend in Dublin, mine in Liverpool). It was sweet.
Now I might live in the slight regret I never took that extra step to keep contact with her but I think I'd prefer to just reflect over that small chat with a happy smile on my face. I'd love to meet her again, probably even do naughty things with her (she was hot) but knowing that there are beautiful girls out there who I can get on with and have a giggle with is good enough for me.
Yeah, I'm kind of having a dry spell again..

Re: It's the little things in life.. you know?
Serious answer, happened to me one night in a pub in Islington.
Met this girl, we 'clicked'.
She was off back down to Portsmouth the next day.
I told her I'd see her there and she didn't believe me.
So I did.
And it sucked. No spark, no connect, no nothing.
Wasted a day of my life.
=don't feel bad mate.

I find a lot of times it's nicer to just keep the memory of that one moment rather than muddling/diluting it with more, though the odd time keeping contact is kinda cool and fun.

It happens all the time. It's something that's worth a smile every now and again.

Re: It's the little things in life.. you know?
I think it's true on any of these accounts.
A month or so ago, I took a girl out who I liked for dinner. Before then, she really liked me and I really liked her, so we thought it was gonna be the first of many.
Unfortunately the whole thing put too much emphasis on good times already had and me being nervous/desperate/whatever just couldn't hold my cool and she lost interest. Rather than having a "it wasn't meant to be" approach, I just lost self esteem thinking about how much I had failed to attract her.
Still I do that, but failings when one is young shouldn't prevent the successes of the one who is old. Or rather, I'm not gonna stop trying just because I think I'll balls them all up.

Re: It's the little things in life.. you know?
I had the same sort of thing in India.
Met an American girl at the little place I was staying at. My God she was gorgeous!
She was one of those traveller types...You know the ones who go somewhere just for the sake of it and bum around the country.
So I was sitting there with a few mates who came on the trip...She was sitting there. Her lighter was busted, so me being the (horny) gentleman I am, I offered her a light and got chatting.
My friends left to go get dinner and I sat talking to this girl.
After about 15 minutes I realised I didn't want to necesarrily have sex with her. I was just enjoying a conversation with a beautiful girl.
We talked for about an hour...Maybe 2 before she had to go back to the place she was staying with this family.
We said goodbye and hugged.
We exchanged emails. I sent one to her but never got a reply.
Oh well...Skiddly dee skiddly doo.

We've all done this sort of thing. Some of us more often than others, and some of us regret it more. You are not unique in this.
If nothing else, learn not to let things slip past you in the future. Take that extra little step, or you're going to just kick yourself later for it.
