It depends on the girl.
With my current girlfriend, one night at a party with 20 something beers down the hatch, I was texting my girlfriend, and I just said "I love you" at the end of one of my texts. She was completely sober and text back all like "I love you too! I've been wanting to say that for so long!" So yeah, that went well. Although I had to save the text on my phone so I remembered the next day. Haha
