Default Fear of Awkwardness

I am currently crushing on a girl. I havent spoken to her for about 2 years, and even so I doubt she remembers me. I want to ask her out I dont know how to break the ice. I can't just walk up to her and ask. Im not friends with her, nor her friends. I know she doesnt have a boyfriend (I dont know if she ever has). I think I stand a good chance, but I dont want to fuck it up by being too creepy at first. Any advice?

The main trait about SELF-CONFIDENCE is not being afraid to fuck up things.....

Holy shit, that's awesome, listen, I gotta run, my friends are waiting for me to play some soccer/hockey so I gotta run, but I'll see ya around, alright? Hey, actually, I'm free friday if you wanna grab some some drinks/lunch after school and catch up, are you busy?

Find a reason to talk to her that makes it look like you didn't plan to talk to her.

bahaha.
I do see where you're going with this, but it seems like the most generic response possible for an adult to a teenager.

Anyways, I'm currently in almost the exact situation, except I'm a female. It would be even more awkward if I approached him.

I would say the best attempt to not appear creepy but grab her attention would be to find her interests and friends. Gain knowledge of things her friends know, i.e. adapt to her friends, pay little attention to her, but position yourself around her. Once her friends admire you she'll form it and become instantly attracted to you(hopefully). If she doesn't, just ask her out once you've "gotten to know her"(hung out with her friends long enough to break the ice)

Well... I was I was dancing with a girl in a club the other week but didn't get a chance to get her number.

Luckily I saw her walking to the bus stop, so I sneaked past her and pretended to be on the phone about 30 meters in front since I knew she would walk past.

As soon as she did "Oh hey ____" and it went from there.

It might not be completely practically for you, since you haven't seen her for a while but it's a good way not to look creepy or desperate (Just remember to put your phone on silent)

Are you both in highschool? College?

That takes like a week of work and will FAIL.

My advice takes all of 60 seconds and if it fails, you'll know she's not interested and it's not awkward in the least.

This is almost the exact method i have been using and so far has gotten me squat. Maybe I should try the assertive way described before, but i dont want to not be myself. The reason why the above method fails for me is because of this 'fear of awkwardness' I am too afraid to become friends with her friends, just the same as i am to befriend her. It helps when talk their male friends, whom i know, but i dont think it will work with female. I just have trouble initiating the friendship. After the first meeting I have no trouble going up to someone (for the most part). I know one of her friends (by know, i talk to her occasionally on AIM and a little in real life, but ive never 'hung out' with her) but i dont know if i would trust her to 'set us up' because shes not so good at keeping secrets (which may be a good thing if i could actually tell her because i really dont think this girl would turn me down)

I am in highschool btw, a senior. She is a junior. Basiclly the problem is that I can't just walk up to her and ask her what i want, mostly because she is always with her friends and i am setting myself up for a humiliating situation.

EDIT: the reason it is awkward if it fails is because then i have to imagine what she/her friends think everytime i pass by them even though they probably wouldnt even think it. I guess im afraid of my thoughts.

Bump into her and ask her if she wants to "take this outside" - then let her off the hook (sort of). Oh wait! hey xxxxx!

Refer back to when she bumped into you and tease her about how she never lost her clumsiness.

Something like that. Go for it man!

Dude, today I talked up a girl while waiting for the subway to come. You want to know what happened? SHE WALKED TO THE OTHER END OF THE PLATFORM.

Not even a simple "I gotta get off on the other end" or anything. I started off with a casual joke and she moved a good 100 metres away.

I'm becoming robinhoody :(

well op, i wouldnt go up to someone and just ask them out if they dont know you no matter how confident you are...even if you are good looking they will probably reject you for not making attempts to get to know them

first you need introductions, which, if you are sly about it, you can do casually and discretely and make it look like an accident.

then if you make friends you get to know her and most importantly her friends...rejection sucks and ive never gotten past the fear (yah im a fucking pussy that way) so ive always used the get one of her friends to find out if she likes me without giving away that i like her. then if its a heads up theres no fear in asking her out if you know she likes you back

hope that helped...i saw the word fear so im giving you the easiest way, the one for chickens like me lol
